Job Overview:

The Outreach Coordinator will facilitate the implementation of all outreach efforts for the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood including a public awareness campaign that is designed to reach Promise Neighborhood residents. This role will integrate events, community and stakeholder partnerships, and community engagement for this place-based initiative. This position reports to the Promise Neighborhood Project Director.


Bachelor's Degree required.

At least two years' experience. Prior experience with non-profit outreach, community mobilization, and community organizing.

Prior experience and demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Essential Functions:

Develops relationships with community leaders and serves as the organization's liaison with various constituents.

Organizes meetings, events, and seeks out opportunities to promote Promise Neighborhood (PN).

Create outreach plan in alignment with PN communication plan. Plans, manages and staffs outreach events and engagement-related activities. Maintains calendar of outreach events.

Works with the Project Director and Project Management Team to ensure that there is alignment between awareness campaigns, communications materials and project implementation. Works with the PN Data and Research team to track awareness outcomes to ensure project outreach is meeting grant deliverables.

Work with PN partners to ensure the communication and awareness strategy is communicated to all partners and develop synergies that will strengthen overall partnerships.

Coordinate with Communications Specialist to align strategies with partner organizations' outreach teams and ongoing communication channels.

Assist in building a robust repository of photography and videos to document the implementation of the project.

Exhibits excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills and possesses a creative and analytical mindset. Possesses strong organizational skills, demonstrated ability to work independently and is detail-oriented. Manages time efficiently.

Exhibits proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook. Personable, helpful team player with high energy who works well with a variety of different individuals. Experience managing complex social and interpersonal interactions well.

Experience handling multiple priorities effectively; must be adept at organizing time efficiently; high tolerance for ambiguity; ability to understand and work collaboratively

Successful experience fostering an inclusive environment working as part of a multidisciplinary team and working effectively with persons from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.

Photography and video skills preferred. Able to attend regularly occurring evening and Saturday meetings and events 4-6 times per month on average. Exhibits knowledge of and a passion for project's identity, mission, and goals.
