Title: TEN Engagement Intern


Department: Benefit Access                                                                                                               


Reports To: Manager, Tiered Engagement Network (TEN)


Location: 39 Broadway- Lower Manhattan


 


Who We Are


Tiered Engagement Network(TEN) is a citywide network of community based organizations that utilizes neighborhood-level partnerships to reduce poverty in New York City and works to increase access to public benefits and services for low-income families. TEN members utilize the TEN Tracking platform to send referrals for services they do not offer or/and receive referrals for services they provide.


Primary Purpose of the Job: Food Bank’s TEN Engagement Intern helps TEN members to engage with its community partners, food pantries, soup kitchens, social service agencies schools, etc. to go beyond food. Utilizing capacity building approaches and training, TEN Engagement Intern will ensure these agencies are better connected in their communities, and better prepared to help their clients move out of poverty. The Engagement Intern plays a vital role in re-engaging members, maintaining partnerships and providing support. In order to travel to and fro, a monthly Metro card will be provided.


Principal duties and key responsibilities:


  • Assist sites in implementing new or updated client outreach, referral, and quality assurance processes;
  • Assist the Evaluation and Research Department to develop assessment survey and materials for agencies if needed; update Agency Profiles with new information when applicable after site visits;
  • Provide critical training and help build agencies capacity;
  • Conduct needs assessment with new partner and any existing partners that have not yet provided information (most agencies in TEN have already filled out the needs assessment); document new partner options in the Agency Profile;
  • Conduct a local community needs assessment in the area of hunger by identifying and engaging key individuals, businesses and agencies in neighborhoods by conducting a community needs assessment;
  • Complete site communication logs report within 7-10 days; maintain appropriate and accurate documentation of phone calls, emails and technical assistance
  • Provide quality assurance and technical assistance to existing TEN partners and recruit new members into the network;
  • To help keep the TEN networks on-track to provide quality referrals, assist with trainings/technical assistance on the following: outreach, data entry overdue referrals, using the TEN Tracker database and monthly reports;
  • Assist agencies to hone their process for sending/receiving quality referrals, which includes adding/subtracting services from the TEN Tracker
  • Assist the Evaluation and Research Department to compile and analyze data gathered through community needs assessment, and contribute ideas on how TEN might work to fill gaps in service or meals;
  • Prepare and plan TEN United Partnerships events quarterly;
  • Make reminder phone calls, emails and troubleshooting;
  • Updating network maps;
  • Be able to present Food Bank’s scope of services and mission and core values;
  • Be able to be fluid with changes within Food Banks TEN Program;
  • Perform other duties as required


 


Qualifications:


  • The ideal candidate is flexible and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task; should be able to work weekends and evenings when necessary;
  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Bilingual Spanish/English;
  • Be at least 18 years of age;
  • Ability to work independently in a challenging position with constantly changing work environment;
  • Travel throughout the Bronx (North Bronx) and Manhattan (Upper Manhattan)
  • Proficiency in all MS office applications required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and telephone manners
