The Special Projects Coordinator is a new position at SAN to help execute special events and projects at SAN, including, but not limited to our 30th Anniversary Campaign, our annual Gala, and website redesign. This dynamic and detail-oriented person will also support the Executive Director on day-to-day responsibilities, such as scheduling, data tracking and analysis, and new initiatives. While this is an entry-level position, there is significant opportunity for growth for the right candidate, including extensive exposure and engagement with our program units. This is a great role for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the South Asian American community in Southern California, is interested in gaining nonprofit management experience, and willing to be challenged and grow in a dynamic, sometimes fast-paced environment. Candidates who apply must be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds, self-sufficient, and team-oriented.

The Special Projects Coordinator will report to the Executive Director.  

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities of the Special Projects Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

·       Coordinating logistics on 30th Anniversary Campaign activities, such as social media outreach, archiving project, family picnic;

·       Collaborating with SAN staff to support development of content for website, press releases, social media, and other marketing materials;

·       Working closely with Executive leadership, Board of Directors, and vendors on event logistics for the annual Gala;

·       Track and report on monthly data on SAN on client outreach, intakes, social media and website traffic;

·       Conduct client intakes (both in-person and over the phone);

·       Update procedures manual;

·       Coordinate financial processes, such as recording incoming checks, preparing invoices, filing, and sending required statements to bookkeeper;

·       Work with Executive Director on scheduling, preparing for Board meetings and presentations, and special research or project requests;

·       Represent SAN at community outreach events;

·       Perform other tasks as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

In a four to eight-hour workday, the employee must be able to bend and crouch occasionally, sit continuously and stand or walk frequently.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       High school diploma.

·       Knowledge of office management systems and procedures.

·       Working knowledge of office equipment, like printers and fax machines.

·       Detail oriented, with strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize tasks effectively.

·       Ability to complete timely, confidential, and ethically appropriate documentation.

·       Comfort and competence in working independently as well as part of a team.

·       Strong PC skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in particular).

·       Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

·       Attention to detail and problem solving skills.

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weeknights and weekends.

·       Understanding of technology, including volunteer and client databases.

·       Valid California driver’s license, insurance, and automobile that may be used during working hours.

·       Ability to support the mission and philosophy of the South Asian Network.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual skills (English + South Asian language);
  • Previous experience working with the South Asian community;
