Position Title:   Food Bank/ Warehouse Worker                               Reports to:        Food Bank Supervisor

This position is responsible to ensure the Food Bank is open for operation; to welcome clients, volunteers, donors, and guests; and to ensure food safety protocols are followed during the receiving, repackaging, storage, and distribution processes. An ideal candidate would have a focus on team spirit, collaboration and passion for the organizational mission as demonstrated by participation in meetings, taking on new projects and general “can do-dig in” attitude.


General Responsibilities-25%

  • Work effectively as a team member to assure food bank standards are met or exceeded in supplying food to the public by following a systematic routine schedule.
  • Model positive behavior, deescalate volatile situations, and exemplify NWH values.
  • Keep up-to-date on food safety protocols and laws, both at the Department of Agriculture (warehouse) and the Department of Health (food bank) level while maintaining a valid food worker card. 
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment

Volunteer Responsibilities-40%

  • Provide support to volunteers and direction as they re-package food and complete other projects
  • Set up and break down work areas before and after projects
  • Operate Fork Lift, Pallet Jack and other warehouse equipment in accordance to OSHA standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Warehousing and Operational Responsibilities-35%

  • Coordinates food receipts and distribution -- ensuring proper temperature control, sanitary conditions, documentation, and appropriate handling. Must ensure all inventory protocols are observed (receipts, inventory counts, data entry, etc.)
  • Works with Food Bank Supervisor to ensure proper maintenance of facility and equipment. 
  • Unloads deliveries
  • Set up food displays and moves food from storage to displays
  • Mobile food bank- Preparation, load truck, set up, and break down


  • Familiarity with inventory management database
  • Non-profit or hunger relief experience
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)


  • Ability to work with diverse populations in demanding situations on tight deadlines
  • Previous warehouse experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to quickly prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to anticipate problems and create solution in advance
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds consistently and repeatedly with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Forklift/electric pallet jack certification
  • WA State Food Worker Card
  • Valid drivers license

Pay range for this position is $15.30 – $16.13 hourly negotiable
