Description

Provide direction to all aspects of the Girl Scouts of Greater New York’s (GSGNY) Product Program including, but not limited to; cookie sales, product sales, product events, Business and Entrepreneurship program offerings and the council shop.   


RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:


Program Implementation

§ Lead the expansion and enhancement of GSGNY’s Business and Entrepreneurship program portfolio by securing expert program partners and continually assessing current program offerings.

§ Further develop the Cookie and Product (magazines, chocolates etc) sale program and integrate it into the Business and Entrepreneurship portfolio. 

§ Manage the Annual Cookie Rally event.


Product Sale Management

§ Provides the overall strategic vision for the success and growth of the Girl Scout Product Program.

§ Leads the planning, implementation and annual execution of the Cookie Program and Product Sales.

§ Oversee the overall coordination of shipments and deliveries, including Booth Sales and Drive Thrus.

§ Oversees inventory, sales and e-commerce of all Products.

§ Ensures the highest level of customer service.

§ Develops strong systems and processes to best support volunteers.

§ Helps to develop/strives to meet annual revenue goals.

§ Develop and foster strong partnerships with GSUSA and Little Brownie Baker.


Shop Management

§ Lead the overall management of the council shop including, but not limited to: store hours, shop staff, marketing, inventory, operations and customer service.

§ Research and partner with vendors to ensure quality goods with sustainable prices.

§ Analyze sales and use assessments to inform purchasing decisions.

§ Helps to develop/strives to meet annual revenue goals


Management Responsibilities

§ Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and train new employees.

§ Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee on boarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.

§ Provide oversight and direction to employees in the department in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.

§ Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations and paid time off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling.

§ Manage the overall budgetary and financial responsibilities and activities of the department. Review and evaluate budget-to-actual reports provided by the finance department, as necessary or requested, to ensure accuracy and troubleshoot discrepancies.

§ Manage the preparation of departmental budget forecasts on an annual basis for Board approval.

§ Maintain transparent communication through both department and one-on-one meetings, and appropriate electronic communication methods.

§ Provide regular performance feedback throughout the year to monitor employee goals and communicate expectations. Implement Performance Improvement Plans in a timely manner when necessary.

§ Conduct annual performance reviews that encourage employee contribution and include goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning. Empower employees to take responsibility and accountability for their jobs and goals.

§ Embody the principles of GSGNY Core Values on a daily basis and instill those principles in employees. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and expeditious conflict resolution, and the appreciation of diversity to enable each employee and the department to succeed.



QUALIFICATIONS:

§ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

§ Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse communities.

§ Experience working with volunteers.

§ Ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively with others.

§ Experience in designing curriculum and/or program evaluation tools.

§ Ability to commit to a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, and to travel throughout the five boroughs as necessary.

§ Proficiency in identifying, analyzing and solving problems.

§ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines, and perform well under pressure.

§ Creativity, vision, and the ability to motivate volunteers.

§ Ability to design programs that would combine values and traditions of Girl Scouting with the contemporary needs of NYC youth.

§ Ability to manage time, work independently, provide customer service, and handle several projects at once.

§ Computer-literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
