Summary of Position:

The B2SL Collaborative is contracting a 2021-22 Campaign Coordinator. This is a full-time, exempt position that is primarily responsible for aiding in the day-to-day advocacy and administrative functions of the B2SL collaborative. The Coordinator is responsible for assisting the collaborative to oversee and manage its operations, including collaborative meetings and communication; community engagement; strategic plan development, implementation, budget analysis, legislative advocacy and evaluation. Other key duties include scheduling meetings, coordinating meeting logistics, and other tasks essential to projects associated with the B2SL Collaborative. The position reports directly to the B2SL Collaborative Coordinating Body.

Responsibilities:

B2SL Collaborative Coordination: 

  • Assist the collaborative in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to keep the collaborative and subcommittees focused on activities that will meet projected outcomes
  • Work as a team member with the lead agency and collaborative to meet advocacy goals and objectives Assist leadership in developing meeting schedules and agendas
  • Assist in facilitating the organization of committee meetings
  • Facilitate the organization of collaborative events
  • Assist collaborative leaders in assessing training/technical assistance needs of the collaborative, and in organizing training opportunities
  • Assist collaborative in budget analysis and advocacy

Community and Organization Engagement: 

  • Assist in recruiting new collaborative members &
  • Assist with developing relationships with residents, stakeholders, and other Campaign Coordinator: CA’s Budget 2 Save Lives Collaborative community members
  • Assist in all Budget Advocacy and Public Education Projects
  • Assist in the scheduling of meetings with key targets such as the CA State Legislator and the Governor’s Administration
  • Draft community engagement materials such as letters of support, fact sheets, and presentations

Administrative Tasks: 

  • Schedule meetings with key stakeholders
  • Document and follow-up on actions and decisions from meetings
  • Develop and maintain filing systems; computer and manual filing systems
  • Book conference calls, rooms, taxis, couriers, hotels, etc.

Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal policy that impacts injustice system reforms & abolitionist efforts in California.
  • Background in state, local or federal budgets is a plus.
  • A deep, established political analysis aligned with B2SL values and a strong commitment to racial and gender justice.
  • 2-3 years organizing experience.
  • Strong communication skills including writing, speaking and networking skills.
