Position Overview

The Volunteer Project Manager (VPM) plays an integral role to the success of the Volunteer Impact Department through the excellent implementation of service events and oversight of department operations. The VPM works closely with the City Year Boston Development team, corporate partners, and community stakeholders to ensure excellence in volunteer and service partner experience. The VPM will also support the Civic Engagement Senior AmeriCorps Member Experience through events, coordinator roles and trainings.


The Volunteer Project Manager works closely with the Volunteer Impact Manager and reports to the Volunteer Impact Director.Job Description

Responsibilities

Event Production and Volunteer Management

  • Lead service events that meet the needs of the service partner and event sponsor.
  • Lead volunteers through the completion of physical service projects.
  • Ensure efficiency and effectiveness in project design through the creation and maintenance of mural, schematic, and project resources.
  • Manage supply drive and at-home service programs.
  • Ensure an excellent volunteer experience; lead the collection and assessment of surveys.
  • Work with the Volunteer Impact Director to identify additional opportunities to expand City Year Boston’s volunteer offerings.
  • Manage special projects and programs as assigned.

Management of Senior Corps Members

  • Coach and guide Senior AmeriCorps Members through project planning and implementation processes.
  • Manage Senior AmeriCorps Members though coordinator roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage trainings for Senior AmeriCorps Members.
  • Work closely with the Volunteer staff team to collaboratively lead the Senior AmeriCorps Members and create a positive and productive team environment.

Relationship Development

  • Manage school and community partnerships through site visits, project development and onsite implementation.
  • Support relationships with school district and city agencies in Boston and Everett.
  • Take part in all Civic Engagement network conference calls, professional development opportunities, and retreats.
  • Support corporate sponsor and donor engagement through calls, event materials and recruitment.
  • Participate in City Year Boston’s Selection Interviews for senior corps member applicants.

Operations

  • Manage event budgets.
  • Manage supply procurement to improve cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead the ongoing maintenance efforts for department vehicles and spaces.
