The Girls on the Run WMA Community Outreach Manager must possess a passion for and commitment to improving the lives and opportunities of girls in third through eighth grades. The Girls on the Run program provides a safe and interactive way to learn about healthy living which includes an introduction and education on important topics such as goal-setting, cooperation, healthy decision-making, and self-respect, while training for a 5K event. The innovative curriculum teaches girls to listen and open up while also encouraging them to commit to a healthy lifestyle, and harness the inner strength that they possess. Our important mission is accomplished by giving girls the tools to make positive choices for a healthy body and mind, while reducing the many risks they face today.


The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for assisting with aspects of programming and reports to the Council Director. This is a 20 hour/wk position. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Sites

  • Help to develop site recruitment and maintain expansion strategy
  • Conduct site visits and complete evaluation of coaches and site
  • Ensure commitment to GOTR Access and Inclusion policy by working to recruit and support diverse programming locations and sites
  • Assist in implementing participant and family evaluations of the program


Coaches

  • Oversee and run coach training with Program Manager
  • Maintain Regional Liaison outreach and implementation strategy
  • Update and oversee coach policies
  • Coach at least one season (if no prior GOTR experience)
  • Communicate weekly with coaches and provide coach support
  • Implement coach feedback survey post-season
  • Ensure commitment to GOTR Access and Inclusion policy by working to recruit and support a diversified coach base


Volunteer recruitment and management

  • Develop volunteer appreciation events (including on going coach support)
  • Cultivate strong relationships with coaches, donors, parents, participants, sponsors and volunteers



Training

  • Work with other staff to organize training logistics
  • Implement coach training evaluations and recommend improvements


Communication

  • Develop and oversee all program-related marketing materials (site recruitment, coach recruitment, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy of all program-related materials and content
  • Develop marketing flyers for schools
  • Oversee all aspects of social media
  • Manage stewardship for 5K, donations, sponsors and special events


Special Events

  • Work closely with 5K coordinator to support all 5K events
  • Create and sustain a SoleMates program
  • Assist with other staff on the planning, implementing and organizing of events with fund-raising Committee members


Outreach/Communication to public/parents

  • Along with other staff, outreach to and communicate seasonally with coaches, parents and principals regarding all program information and season information. This, in conjunction with Council Director, covers a wide range of topics and outreach.


Required Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree at minimum
  • Passion for Girls on the Run mission and the ability to comprehend and effectively communicate issues surrounding empowerment, self-esteem, body image and whole-person health
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in multiple environments and with a range of audiences
  • Proven results using social media as tool for outreach and community building
  • Solid skills in designing effective marketing materials
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and make efficient decisions
  • Work well on a team
  • Flexible and adaptable


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Girls on the Run (or other similar youth or wellness programs)
  • Non-profit management experience
  • Fundraising experience
  • Connections to the local community
