Job Title: People & Culture Generalist

Department: Operations

Unit: People & Culture

Reports to: Director, People & Culture

FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time

Work Model: Virtual

Rate of Pay: A candidate in this role will receive a starting hourly rate of $36.46 per hour

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, the People & Culture Generalist will play a pivotal role in the operation of CAIR’s People & Culture Department. This position is multifaceted and encompasses responsibilities across various HR functions, including HRIS System management, onboarding and orientation, employee engagement, recruiting, records management, employee relations, basically covering the entire employee life cycle.

CAIR (the national office) is considered a multi-state employer, and this role will require knowledge of various state legislation. This new role requires a perceptive individual capable of building rapport with individuals at all organizational levels while upholding strict confidentiality standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Compliance

· Maintain confidentiality and compliance.

· Assist in ensuring the organization stays up to date with federal, state, and local employment regulations and mandates across all states where CAIR has employees.

· Assist in the regular updating of policies and procedures.

· Assist in researching P & C best practices and workplace trends.

· Manage personnel files (ensuring all documents and employee information are handled with compliance.)

· Assist in updating the employee handbook.

· Contribute to Policy Development.

· Maintain the organizational chart and update as needed.

· Organize and manage the collection of the NDA’s and related paperwork

· Organize and manage the I-9 process and file storage.

· Assist in following the document retention plan and assist in managing the retention process.

· Organize and retain personnel files based on document retention guidelines.

Employee Relations & Staff Engagement

· Assist in organizing the tracking of documentation for grievances, harassment, and/or complaints.

· Provide backup support to the performance review process and ensure proper review and filing of documents.

Compensation & Benefits

· Assist in supporting the annual open enrollment process for benefits.

· Provide support for the annual review of benefits plans along with understanding the benefits carriers.

· Support the DoPC in the annual review of the compensation structure and benchmarking of jobs.

Talent Acquisition & Recruitment

· Assist in updating job descriptions as needed.

· Take the lead on managing the applicant tracking system.

· Provide support in recruiting and retention strategies to align with the strategic plan.

· Lead on preboarding, onboarding, and offboarding as needed.

Health, Safety, and Well-Being

· Assist in developing initiatives around well-being.

· Assist in developing health and safety plans.

· Plan organizational wide events in conjunction with culture building.

Learning & Development

· Assist in the development and planning of “HR” seminars and trainings through Paychex.

· Provide backup support in the tracking and documentation of mandatory trainings.

Total Rewards

· Assist in the development of short-term and long-term incentives.

· Assist in the development of a quarterly engagement strategy.

· Monitor market trends around total rewards.

Other Responsibilities

· Will assist in onboarding new employees.

· Will assist in exit interviews (offboarding) of employees.

· Assisting with projects and issues as they arise

· Provide P & C support to the P & Coordinator and/or DoPC.

· And any other duties as assigned and/or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s degree in human resources development or management or similar preferred.

· A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant human resources experience is required.

· Demonstrated initiative and a track record of professional growth in the field of Human Resources.

· Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a task-oriented approach.

· Must have the ability to establish priorities, manage multiple issues in a time-sensitive manner, and maintain a positive attitude.

· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with HR systems and databases (experience with Paychex ASO is advantageous), and competency in Microsoft Office applications (familiarity with Office 365 basic administration is a plus).

· Proficiency in exercising a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, firmness, and collaboration when interacting with individuals at all levels.

· Capacity to quickly acquire knowledge of policies, procedures, and systems.

· Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.

· Knowledge of employment and labor laws.

· Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
