Manufacture: San Jose (MFG:SJ) is an exciting new initiative launched in April 2018 by the City of San Jose and established manufacturing non-profit SFMade, in partnership with CMTC California’s Manufacturing Network, to sustain and grow the City’s manufacturing ecosystem. MFG:SJ will drive knowledge and resources to San Jose’s more than 1000 manufacturers, with a focus on both legacy and emerging small manufacturers. MFG: SJ will create jobs for adults facing employment barriers, develop internship opportunities for youth, and ultimately will build more inclusive, and equitable San Jose. The Director will also collaborate closely with the City of San Jose and other local partners on key programmatic and policy issues, including industrial land use policy, workforce development strategies, and promotional opportunities such as National Manufacturing Day. The Director will be part of SFMade’s overall leadership team and, over time, will collaborate on hiring additional San Jose based staff, developing relationships with key funders, local advisory Board development, and organizational sustainability and strategy.
