LFF plans to launch Starts With Us to empower people to use their daily habits to improve themselves, their communities and the world. The initiative comes in response to the extremism showing up across our culture. Destructive patterns of excess judgment, dehumanization and fear of difference are shaping how we think, relate and act. We are creating a space for people to tap into their personal agency and practice skills that discourage extremism and encourage engagement with different information, people and perspectives. Curiosity, empathy and courage are the foundations of our work.

What you’ll do:

As the Senior Manager, Audience Development you will be responsible for the execution of our audience strategy and oversee all performance marketing campaigns, including email, search and paid social. In this role, you will be required to think strategically across a variety of media and marketing channels with a focus on building, retaining and growing loyal audiences organically via powerful storytelling and creative grassroots tactics. Together with a team dedicated to perception-shifting Marketing and Communications, you will contribute to a content strategy and advise on how to tailor the content to engage different segments of the community and convert them to take deeper actions over time. You will be our audience expert and possess the ability to share actionable insights in a clear, compelling way with the internal team and our partners.

Reports to: Communications Director

To find success in this role, you will:

  • Develop an audience-first digital marketing strategy with the goal of attracting audiences and converting them to take deeper actions over time
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications colleagues to develop breakthrough digital campaigns, including bite-sized and “habit forming” content that builds the Starts With Us brand and its community
  • Oversee the functions of lifecycle marketing, performance marketing and owned social media marketing
  • Design and execute creative cost-effective strategies for collecting emails and growing and retaining the community
  • Own all performance metrics, analyze and communicate data and key insights to drive growth and engagement and content optimization across digital channels
  • Oversee content management, maintain initiative’s website
  • Work with the Communications and Partnerships teams to determine how PR activations and the Starts With Us influencer network can be leveraged on digital
  • Engage and manage vendors and agencies as needed to achieve initiative goals
  • Build and manage an effective team as needed to grow the community

Requirements

  • Comfortable in a remote work environment and willing to travel 3-4 times a year for team gatherings
  • Comfortable wading into new areas and learning as you go
  • Persistent in overcoming and removing obstacles that impact goal achievement
  • Someone who operates with kindness, transparency, integrity and grit

You have:

  • 6-8 years working in a fast-paced digital marketing or audience development role, ideally as part of a digital media or publishing outlet or in support of content/distribution platforms
  • Deep expertise on digital culture/trends, technology advancements and distribution channels
  • Experience building a digital strategy from scratch and executing a series of successful campaigns across digital and video channels in support of that strategy
  • Experience devising nimble, responsive digital campaigns/strategies to capitalize on relevant moments or events
  • Experience running efficient paid media campaigns
  • Familiarity with a CMS and overseeing Dev/UX/UI updates
  • Experience working closely with marketing/communications and creative teams to drive shifts in mindset and behavior through storytelling
  • A solid understanding of design and editorial processes
  • A thorough understanding of SEO principles and best practices
  • Relationships across the digital field (both public and private sector) from whom you can borrow best practices, innovative ideas, and community-building tactics
  • Experience managing external vendors and agencies, including digital, tech and web teams
  • Experience building and managing an internal team
  • Ability to give guidance on partnerships and influencer marketing
  • Experience with Shopify is a plus
  • Ability to manage heavy workloads and rapidly shift priorities based on needs
