Description

Girls Who Code seeks a payroll specialist to oversee all aspects of semi-monthly payroll processing and employee file compliance.


Girls Who Code has over 50 full time employees and hires 300 seasonal staff to support our programs. The payroll specialist will play a key role in making sure our HR systems run smoothly for all staff and consultants. The payroll specialist will report to the VP of Finance and will work closely with the People and Culture team.


Applicants should be prepared to work up to 20 hours a week during the summer and around 10 hours a week for the rest of the year. This position can be done remotely, but may require occasional visits to the NY office.


Responsibilities

  • Process Semi-Monthly payroll for salary, hourly, and seasonal groups through Namely, GWC’s HRIS and payroll system 
  • Review timesheets and pay calendars for seasonal and hourly employees 
  • Maintain confidential employee files and work with Finance team to ensure full compliance with annual audit 
  • Coordinate with People Team to ensure timely onboarding of new hires, creation of employee contracts, and running annual benefit open enrollment period
  • Prepare and customize payroll reports as requested 
  • Manage and administer Benefits for salary employees (health, transit, and 401k) 


Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of payroll processing experience 
  • Bachelor's Degree (Accounting or HR administration degrees are a plus)
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail 
  • Knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems, preferred experience with Namely 
  • Service oriented and able to perform all duties confidentially
