Description

This position is responsible for developing and planning continuing legal education programs and program content for lawyers and law students.

Responsibilities:

Overview

  • Lead the ABOTA Foundation’s Professional Development efforts.
  • Work with ABOTA members and subject matter experts to create and manage legal education content to be disseminated to partners, and customers.
  • Coordinate and manage the ABOTA National Trial College
  • Coordinate International Professional Education programs held periodically.
  • Assist in creating and managing annual Professional Development budget.
  • Monitor new developments in continuing legal education across the country.

Professional Education Program/Content Design

  • Create, revise and package ABOTA Foundation legal education content for dissemination to ABOTA Chapters, partners, and partner CLE providers.
  • Facilitate the creation of new programs, develop materials for such programs and advise ABOTA chapters/partners of the availability of new programs for future use.
  • Ensure the brand integrity of ABOTA Foundation content, the ABOTA National Trial College, and other programs as they are developed.
  • Establish and manage strategic partnerships with professional education organizations.
  • Work closely with the Professional Education Committee and related subcommittees, including developing content, planning distribution, preparing agendas for and scheduling meetings and conference calls.

Marketing/Communications

  • Oversee the marketing of the Foundation’s content to ABOTA Chapters, partners, and other legal education providers.
  • Promote the Foundation’s mission to equip and inspire lawyers and law students to act in the most skilled and ethical manner.
  • Provide editorial assistance for the organization’s communications and publications efforts, including the Foundation Annual Report, Foundation updates, and the website.
  • As requested, contribute to the periodic reports distributed to the Trustees by the Executive Director/Associate Executive Director.

Meetings and Events

  • Maintain a master calendar of all educational programs sponsored by the Foundation.
  • Plan and manage live and online continuing legal education events.
  • Plan and manage the ABOTA National Trial College.
  • Attend and provide onsite support at all National and Foundation meetings including registration, coordination, and execution of event details.
  • Coordinate the Foundation’s participation with legal professional education organizations through sponsorships, conference exhibits, conference presentations and marketing opportunities at external events.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director and the Executive Director.


Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Professional Experience

  • Experience in adult education program planning.
  • History of working with a diverse group of volunteers, staff, and vendors, preferably in a membership association.
  • Meeting planning experience desirable.
  • The ability to deal professionally and effectively with stressful situations and demanding people.
  • History of working effectively with partner organizations.

Required Skills

  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • History of successful collaboration and desire to work in a team environment.
