At The Door, youth can access health care and education, mental health counseling and crisis assistance, legal assistance, college preparation services, career development, housing supports, arts, sports and recreational activities, and nutritious meals – all for free and under one roof. By providing participants with our suite of integrated services, we seek to provide any motivated young person with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to successfully transition to adulthood.


The Crisis Case Manager will provide crisis intervention and short-term case management for Commercially Sexually Exploited and Runaway and Homeless Youth through our Drop-In Services, new members through Member Services; and clients through our counseling department and other departments throughout The Door.  


Responsibilities:

  • Meet with young people (through our Drop-In Services, Member Services, Counseling Department and other departments throughout The Door) who are in crisis to provide support, information, referrals 
  • Perform ACS mandated reporting duties as needed
  • Provide suicide/homicidal assessments and appropriate follow-up with young people in collaboration with supervisor 
  • Provide assessments and short-term case management services for door members in immediate need Provide prevention, psychoeducation, safety planning, advocacy, and crisis counseling for Door members who are survivors of or are at high-risk of sexual abuse, assault, or commercial sexual exploitation 
  • Carry a small caseload of commercially sexually exploited clients
  • Follow-up on referrals to housing and other support services
  • Escort young people to obtain necessary identification and to external agencies as needed
  • Document all crisis and case management work and complete all required reports
  • Coordinate Drop-In Services Lunch service and group with other case managers
  • Assist in provision of basic needs services when necessary 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed up-to-date referral resources within the five boroughs
  • Participate in program and departmental meetings
  • Other functions and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • At least 2 years experience providing counseling and crisis intervention
  • At least 2 years experience working with Commercially Sexually Exploited, runaway and homeless and/or other high-risk youth populations 
  • Knowledgeable of and ability to apply positive youth development principles to working with young people
  • Familiarity with emergency and transitional youth shelter systems
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate effectively and professionally on behalf of clients
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and creatively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel or other compatible programs
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and take initiative
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Mandarin preferred


Hours: 35 hours per week (12pm – 8pm required)
