$60,000 - $70,000

The Philadelphia Robotics Coalition seeks to hire our first full-time Executive Director to lead an exciting growth stage for our young organization.

A major priority that emerged from recent strategic and development planning processes is the need to hire a full-time Executive Director, to increase capacity beyond the current quarter-time role (held by a board member). The new Executive Director will provide a next level of leadership, by integrating strategy, fundraising, programming, and administrative duties. The Coalition also has a part-time Program Director. By hiring a full-time Executive Director, we aim to create stability and continuity for the Coalition, and launch a new stage of programmatic and organizational growth.

The Executive Director will provide leadership and oversight for the full spectrum of organizational life, including:

  • Working with the Founder and board of directors to set strategy and implement it, in support of the organization’s mission and vision;
  • Building a robust fundraising platform across multiple sectors, including foundations, corporations, and individuals;
  • Sustaining and growing programming with the highest possible standards, including recruiting new teams and expanding our mentorship network;
  • Nurturing partnerships with schools, partners, peer organizations, and others who participate in our programming;
  • Communicating internally and externally to share the impact of our programs and build a solid base of supporters;
  • Representing the organization publicly and remaining well-informed about education, technology, and engineering sectors.
  • Administering the budget, bookkeeping, and 990/audit processes to ensure fiscal health and remain compliant with IRS nonprofit requirements;
  • Hiring additional staff as needed and developing equity-focused HR policies and practices;
  • Managing “up” and “down” to ensure a well-functioning team of board and staff;
  • Prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion across people, programs, and policies.

The position requires a commitment to community-building and a passion for bringing ideas to life. The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial self-starter able to provide leadership, while also facilitating effective teamwork and collaborating with the range of stakeholders in our ecosystem. They should be the kind of person who likes to do a “little bit of everything.”

The candidate must have experience building new programs and processes from scratch, and be able to coordinate multiple tasks while also meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy. They should enjoy thinking strategically and creatively. They must have prior fundraising experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent computer skills, and comfort with budgeting and bookkeeping.

Familiarity with youth-based programs, STEM education, and/or Philadelphia public schools is a plus, as is Spanish language proficiency. Post-secondary educational experience (degree/s, coursework, certificate program, etc.) and at least 7 years work experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.
