Donor Relationship Manager


Position Summary

The Donor Relationship Manager is a fundraising professional with three to five years’ experience ready to advance to the next stage in their career by managing a portfolio of 125-150 annual donors.


The Manager will report to the Director, Catholic Charities Development Programs and work collaboratively as a part of the development team to achieve the agency’s strategic goals and ensure that annual fundraising targets are met through proactive and timely donor-centric relationship building with exceptional execution and follow-through.

 This will be achieved by managing a group of assigned individual donors and prospects to maximize the renewal of existing donors and to increase their giving to and engagement with CCDA. Manager is also responsible to secure new donors to CCDA through prospect identification, discovery, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation. This position will coordinate with the Manager, Catholic Charities Annual Fund Programs & Development Services for the creation and maintenance of portfolio and mailing lists.



Manage a portfolio of assigned donors and prospects capable of gifts of $1,000 and higher and:

Create individual goals and solicitation plans for each based on giving history and available knowledge of donor potential; and

Develop and execute strategies to qualify individual prospects.

Oversee all aspects of each donor’s relationship and timely movement through the solicitation cycle, in coordination with others as appropriate, with a focus on making gift requests.

Design opportunities to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects and engage volunteers, program staff, and others as appropriate to maximize fundraising success.

Partner with CCDA program staff and other colleagues to compile the necessary information for proposals and other materials to be presented to donors to renew their giving and/ or prospects to secure new gifts.

Monitor all prospect contacts to ensure positive and purposeful prospect and donor relations.

Provide pivotal support to the Development department to ensure success of research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of existing donors and new prospects.

Conduct detailed prospect research and produce briefing notes and materials as necessary.

Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to solicit philanthropic support from corporate sponsors and foundations.

Create monthly reports as required that accurately reflect activity and performance.

Perform other duties as may be required.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Three to five years fundraising/ development experience including direct financial requests

Demonstrated ability to meet quantifiable engagement and monetary goals

Demonstrated ability in qualifying donors through discovery

Proficient in the MS Office suite required and experience with database systems preferred

Commitment to working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest level of customer service

Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision

Willingness to travel regularly within the Catholic Charities service area
