Located on the border between Park Slope and Gowanus in Brooklyn, NY, Community Help in Park Slope, Inc. or CHiPS is a 501(c)(3) organization serving the homeless and hungry through two distinct programs housed in one building: a soup kitchen providing meals and pantry items, and a transitional residence for pregnant young women and their infants.

CHiPS is seeking a part-time Volunteer Coordinator. The Volunteer Coordinator is a vital part of the team who will support and grow CHiPS volunteer programming, onboard and place volunteers in a variety of positions across the organization, and help out with special events.

Responsibilities: 20 to 25 hour/week position connecting with organizations and individuals to recruit volunteers, onboard them and place them in positions in our active Soup Kitchen and Residence for pregnant moms and babies. Also responsible for maintaining volunteer schedules, updating our donor/volunteer database, regularly updating our social media and website with current volunteer needs, and communicating with volunteers and key staff to ensure smooth program operations and well-functioning special events. This position can be partially remote, but the Volunteer Coordinator will be expected to regularly work at CHiPS over lunch time on Friday and Saturday.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a BA in a related field, with previous volunteer experience, excellent communication and team building skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases (preferably Salesforce or other CRM), and web-based meeting platforms (Zoom). Looking for individual committed to working with homeless individuals, reducing food insecurity and addressing issues centered around poverty.

COVID-19: Candidate must be vaccinated and be willing to submit a negative COVID test monthly, or be willing to submit a negative COVID test weekly. Masks are required at all times in or in front of the facility.

Compensation
