Queens Community House (QCH) is one of the borough’s premiere social service organizations. Our programs serve residents of all ages, classes, races and ethnicities while supporting the viability of neighborhoods and the borough as a whole. Our mission is to provide individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities. We provide programs for children, teens, adults and older adults at 32 program sites in 14 different neighborhoods across the borough, serving 25,000 people each year. Our programs are designed to serve low-income and immigrant families to promote equal access to opportunity, and also to serve a broad array of Queens residents and to break down barriers of race and class. We are a modern interpretation of the traditional settlement house, bringing to our work current best practices, cost-effective management, innovative leadership, and a passion for social and economic justice. QCH is a strong and growing agency focused on deepening our impact.

Youth Services at QCH

The Youth Services Department seeks to have a long-term, positive impact on the lives of the young people we serve, with a particular focus on social and emotional development. We serve over 2000 young people each year through a diverse array of programming in 17 After School Enrichment Programs, including: 12 New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD)-funded after school programs (10 in schools and 2 in community centers), 3 DYCD-funded Beacon programs, and two New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Advantage programs. Three program sites combine DYCD and OCFS funding creating opportunities for enriched programs and additional family supports. The Youth Services Department also includes our Family Literacy program and our Gen Q program serving LGBTQ teens. The department uses Hello Insight, an independent, automated evaluation tool to measure the impact our programming has on the social-emotional development of our program participants and QCH has consistently been recognized as a top provider nationally among the many organizations using the tool.
