Global Strays is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization which aims to reduce the suffering of animals in impoverished regions in Latin America with plans to expand globally. We fund animal shelters and bring services directly into communities in an effort to increase the well-being of pets, strays, working animals, and families alike. By creating long standing partnerships, we tackle animal mistreatment and stray overpopulation at its root.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Global Strays is looking for an Executive Assistant to assist the President with the day-to-day operations of running the organization. The individual will be expected to support the President in the areas of administration, communications and fundraising/development. Ideally, we are looking for a candidate with previous experience working in any of these roles for non-profits. Global Strays is a young organization and is looking for someone to help grow the capacity of the organization. The candidate should be highly organized and able to balance multiple projects at once. He/she should also feel comfortable proposing new organizational structures and processes for Global Strays to implement. While this is initially part-time, we are looking for candidates to eventually join our team more permanently so candidates with a strong interest in our mission will be prioritized. Training for this position will be provided. We are looking for someone available 25 hours a week Monday-Friday starting usually at 10am to 4pm with a 1 hour lunch break, Monday-Thursday also possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working alongside the President
  • Helping the President stay organized and prioritize projects
  • Supporting the President in prospecting major donors and building donor portfolio
  • Communicating on Whatsapp and email with our partner organizations and program facilitators in Latin America (Spanish speaking skills is a plus but not mandatory)
  • Assisting with preparation and editing of the President’s documents and correspondences
  • Assisting with grants applications and identifying other potential sources of funding
  • Composing newsletters, content creation/editing sections for website, our animal education blog, emails and donor communication, and helping write animal welfare petitions.
  • Researching and compiling ideas for potential animal related brand/influencer partnerships
  • Composing and emailing for potential partnerships in a variety of ways to help with the growth of the organization
  • Writing up basic contracts for our animal partner organizations 
  • Assisting with preparation and editing of the President’s documents and correspondences
  • Conducting internet research, as needed
  • Effectively anticipate needs and provide a wide range of support to the President, as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Personal strong commitment to animal welfare and Global Strays’ mission
  • Able to shift priorities and wear many hats
  • Superb writing and editing abilities
  • Outstanding organizational and time/project management skills
  • Computer proficiency (Google Suite, Google Docs, social media platforms)
  • Ability to prioritize and suggest organizational systems that may be beneficial
  • Comfortable working both independently and in more collaborative environments
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor in-person and virtually
  • Self-motivated problem solver capable of working as part of a team

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Spanish-speaking abilities is an advantage (not mandatory)
  • Experience using MailChimp considered an asset, Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Excel
