General Function

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, Associate Executive Director and the LMTI Supervisor, the LMTI Training Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of all statewide and regional tobacco/vaping prevention trainings (youth and adult) that are a part of Partners in Prevention’s contract with the New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN). The LMTI Training Coordinator is also responsible for assisting with the development, coordination, and implementation of all LMTI custom youth training programs, and contributes to annual programs of the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute.


Know How

This position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the human/social services or a related field. A Master’s Degree and/or CPS certification is preferred. Experience or knowledge in the field of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention is preferred. The applicant must bring skills in program planning and organizational communication. The ability to coordinate conferences, prepare contingency programming, and troubleshoot if issues arise is a must.



The LMTI Training Coordinator must have the ability to work well with both youth and adult participants. The coordinator must also be able to work with community volunteers, leaders and partners, and be able to establish relationships with advisors, school administrators, and funders. Excellent human relations and communication skills are required.



The LMTI Training Coordinator must have the ability to work with several major undertakings at the same time. A flexible work schedule to accommodate night/weekend events and meetings is crucial. Must be able to exercise independent judgment and, at times, work with minimal supervision, and remain calm and objective under stressful conditions. It is important that the LMTI Training Coordinator communicate and role-model healthy personal choices and behaviors in front of youth and young adults.











Principal Activities

1.   Ensure that all requirements of the New Jersey Prevention Network (NJPN) training contract are met:

a.   Work collaboratively with NJPN and the NJ Department of Health to identify training goals and schedule.

b.   Develop, coordinate, and implement regional and statewide youth and adult trainings based upon the agreed training schedule.

c.   Develop, coordinate, and implement web-based trainings based on the agreed training schedule.

d.   Complete any required reports in a timely manner.

e.   Ensure all contract requirements are completed on time.



2.   Assist with the coordination of any LMTI custom trainings

a.   Coordinate the hiring/contracting of all appropriate consultants, trainers, and speakers.

b.   Purchase all training supplies.

c.   Develop conference agendas and all written materials.

d.   Coordinate registration of all participating groups.

e.   Direct the on-site operation of all custom trainings

f.    Recruit all volunteer positions.

g.   Orient and train allvolunteer staff

h.   Ensure the safety of all participants, staff, and volunteers.

i.     Secure competitive bids to ensure appropriate payment for all services.

j.     Seek out expansion/recruitment opportunities

1.   Attend and/or assist with the coordination of all annual LMTI trainings/supplemental services as required.

1.   Assist the Executive Director and Associate Executive Director with special projects as required.
