Thorn is a non-profit focused on building technology to defend children from sexual abuse. Working at Thorn allows you the opportunity to apply your skills, expertise, and passions to directly impact the lives of vulnerable and abused children. Our team solves dynamic, quickly evolving problems by taking insights from the frontlines and turning them into action. If you can bring clarity to complexity and lightness to heavy problems, you could be an excellent fit for our team.

Our CEO took the stage at TED and shared our audacious goal of eliminating child sexual abuse material from the internet.

About the Role:

The Youth Community Manager will act as the voice of Thorn’s youth brand, NoFiltr, across all social media platforms where the brand maintains a presence. The Youth Community Manager will develop a community management strategy that fosters a meaningful dialogue among our followers, elevates resources when needed, and addresses key issues in an approachable way.

The Youth Community Manager will work closely with the Youth Outreach Manager and the Senior Manager of Digital Programs to continue to build the NoFiltr brand across existing and new social platforms, help to develop post captions, advise on creative trends, and leverage knowledge of the community to inform the broader strategy. This role will act as the voice of our youth brand across platforms.

The ideal candidate has exceptional oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and is ready to assist in developing engaging content. You are a ‘people person’ with excellent customer service skills and can moderate conversations with our community. If you are passionate about the power of social media and have a unique talent for bringing information and resources to life across diverse audiences and techniques, we’re excited to meet you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and recommend a community management strategy that fosters a meaningful dialogue among our followers, elevates resources when needed, and addresses key issues in an approachable way.
  • Act as the voice of NoFiltr across all properties, writing copy and maintaining a cross-platform content calendar.
  • Advise on content strategy, trends in social media, and new platform opportunities.
  • Moderate conversations within the NoFiltr community.
  • Support the execution of influencer campaigns for our youth outreach.
  • Support the development of paid social campaigns.
  • Assist in moderating conversations for Caregiver campaigns.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A commitment to putting the children we serve at the center of everything you do.
  • 2-4 years of experience managing social media profiles targeting youth and moderating those communities.
  • A solid understanding of social media and the role it plays in youth culture, including best practices, popular/emerging platforms, and an ability to stay up to date with the latest trends.
  • An ability to clearly communicate strategic social media recommendations within the team and cross-functionally.
  • Experience utilizing social media management tools a plus.
  • Experience pulling insights and KPIs from social media metrics.
  • Experience developing content with specific platform nuances in mind and managing a content calendar across multiple social media platforms.
  • Ability to give input on creative ideas and provide constructive feedback.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to optimize for youth-centric messaging.
  • Flexible and willing to contribute to projects, campaigns, and communications across our prevention work.
  • Ability to multitask while giving attention to detail.
  • Drive and enthusiasm to learn about the issue and develop new skills, with the confidence to ask questions along the way.
  • Passion, humility, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.

At Thorn, we understand the value of developing a team with different perspectives, educational backgrounds, and life experiences. We prioritize diversity within our team and encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply. Your skills are needed here.
