The Transportation & Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for building and managing the volunteer driving program. The Coordinator will recruit, engage, manage and retain volunteer and ensure the program is running smoothly. The Coordinator will also manage the shuttle transportation program on a day-to-day basis and will serve as a liaison to the shuttle operator to ensure smooth operation of that program. The Coordinator will keep abreast of trends and best practices in volunteer management and senior transportation.


Volunteer Management

  • Recruit, onboard and train volunteer drivers on an ongoing basis using community outreach methods such as tabling, placing flyers, and booking engagements to speak to community groups
  • Manage the flow of rides, prompting drivers to maintain their commitment to driving for the program
  • Formalize and implement the volunteer retention plan; lead volunteer appreciation efforts

Transportation Coordination

  • Coordinate day-to-day operations of all CHAI Senior Shuttles by managing reservations, including reminder calls and troubleshooting
  • Solicit feedback from riders and adjust scheduling as needed to incorporate rider input. Collect data and complete all necessary reporting


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 2 years’ experience in human services, transportation services and/or aging services
  • Comfortable speaking to, and engaging with, individuals and groups
  • Strong work ethic, goal-oriented
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written; builds trust
  • Take initiative, is a self-starter, and uses good judgment in meeting the goals of this position
  • Demonstrate passion for serving seniors and an understanding of the community CHAI serves
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and comfortable working with database system
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people and deal with difficult people and issues
