AIR’s Content Director (CD) oversees continuing activities associated with AIR’s productions, including Localore and live events. They also manage staff charged with programming and communications, and bring high aptitude for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability of working with a diverse range of personalities and skill-sets. Other requisite skills include: a) demonstrated competence in public media journalism at the national and/or local levels, b) expertise with managing deadline-driven projects, c) skilled at writing and editing. The CD is exceedingly well organized, disciplined, inventive, and adaptive. They thrive in an innovative atmosphere. They report to AIR’s CEO/Executive Producer (EP) and works in close collaboration with other staff.
Primary areas of responsibility:
- Manages new content creation. This may include, but is not limited to, coordinating and managing outside contributors, producing new, original material, including live events or conference presentation;
- Oversees production staff and contractors, and areas of programming and communications/engagement;
- Negotiates agreements and managing production contracts;
- Manages and oversees a new RFPs and selection processes;
- Drafts & delivers funder reports according to schedule and as needed;
- Identifies opportunity for awards, prepares, coordinates, and submits applications;
- Oversees research and impact reporting.
- Demonstrated excellence with at least 10+ years in public media journalism, media production and storymaking;
- Knowledge of journalistic principals, ethics and standards;
- Experience producing long and short form content, with a proven track record of managing feature projects from beginning to end;
- Familiarity and experience working in for a mission-driven organization;
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, at minimum;
- Minimum of two years of previous direct supervisory experience, including overseeing a performance management process for direct reports;
- Flexible, adaptive problem-solving abilities to suit a growing, changing organization;
- Cultural competence, emotional maturity, and ability to work successfully with diverse groups.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and is flexible for the right candidate.
