The Dean's Office

The Rockefeller University is a world-renowned center for research and graduate education in biomedical sciences. The Rockefeller University Dean's Office oversees the educational programs at the university, including the Ph.D. and postdoctoral programs and the Chemers Neustein Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program. 

Primary Responsibilities

The Dean's Office Assistant and SURF Coordinator will help run the daily activities of the Dean's Office and provide support for the university's educational programs. The position involves daily interaction with faculty, students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff. Projects will include:

  • Coordination of application materials during admissions season and assistance with recruitment during our graduate Open House events as well as off-campus events
  • Organizing logistics for workshops, courses, and other special events
  • Assistance with onboarding new students and special projects
  • Coordination of the Chemers Neustein SURF Program; acting as the primary liaison between the SURF students and the Program Director, and helping organize all aspects of the summer program and its various events, both educational and social
  • Daily responsibilities include providing administrative support to the Dean's Office (responding to incoming calls and emails, handling financial transactions, monitoring and maintaining office supplies, assisting students with supply and equipment purchases, and other clerical duties)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of previous office experience
  • Experience in a higher education environment is a plus
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and writing) skills; superior organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills necessary
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other digital communication platforms required.
  • Must be highly motivated and team-oriented
