The Actors Fund is a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment. Actors Fund clients are a diverse, dynamic and engaging group of working professionals and include musicians, actors, stage managers, set designers, hair and make-up stylists, costume designers, ushers, and radio hosts to name a few. The agency is seeking a clinically oriented Social Worker to join our Entertainment Assistance Program Team providing client-centered clinical case management, supportive counseling, and financial assistance to adult professionals in performing arts and entertainment. This is currently a remote position with the expectation of an eventual return to The Fund’s Times Square office.


RESPONSIBILITIES

The EAP social worker will engage with a wide variety of individuals and their families in a clinical process that facilitates development of assessments and treatment plans. This includes clinical case management, evaluating and advocating for financial assistance, as well as serving as a liaison to additional resources. The social worker will help the client access public and community resources and facilitate connections to health insurance, medical providers, public benefits and community organizations. 

The social worker will provide short term supportive counseling, mental health assessments, referrals and crisis intervention to individuals and their families. The social worker will facilitate clinical and support groups, as well as develop seminars and trainings that address the needs of the performing arts and entertainment community. 

You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other programs of The Actors Fund as well as unions, industry management and community organizations to facilitate treatment plans and services. Additionally, you will identify and develop relationships with community and mental health resources and provide outreach to the community to promote services. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Masters in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work 
  • New York State Licensure 
  • Strong clinical case management and advocacy skills with the ability to consistently convey a sense of empathy with people and demonstrate solid clinical acumen. 
  • A commitment to cultural competence and cultural humility in social work practice
  • Experience in developing and implementing workshops and groups
  • May be required to work an adjusted schedule as needed; evening or weekend hours
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
