The Institute for Communitarian Policy Studies (ICPS) at The George Washington University is the nation's leading center for communitarian policy research and is a research institute dedicated to finding constructive solutions to social problems through morally informed policy analysis and moral dialogue. We strive to bring the best scholarship and analysis to bear on policy issues affecting family, schools, the community, and the moral climate of society as a whole.
We are searching for a full-time Research Assistant to play a major role in our daily operations. The incumbent will be under the immediate supervision of Director Amitai Etzioni and will assist him with conducting research to construct both long academic articles and shorter opinion pieces on a wide range of topics, and with leading our major outreach campaigns. Most importantly, the selected candidate must demonstrate very strong writing and editing skills.
Basic job functions include:
- Researching and copyediting pieces discussing topics ranging from domestic politics to foreign policy to technology/privacy law.
- Conducting outreach to relevant think tanks and other academics who may be interested in our work and future collaboration.
- Managing our social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) as well as our website.
- Providing minor support at ICPS events, which may occur three to four times per year.
