The Visitor Experience and Facilities Manager will serve a critical public-facing role at International House Davis: engaging with members, volunteers, and visitors to I-House; providing information on our events, programs, and mission to the public; tracking public attendance, activities, and opportunities; and managing facility rentals and oversight. This position is also responsible for driving and managing rentals for a multi-use facility housed in a nonprofit institution adjacent to the UC Davis campus. Rentals include conferences, trainings, banquets, fundraisers, meetings, instruction classes, and other types of events.This role will also serve as point of contact for financial transactions, including rentals, membership registration, donations and ticketing Experience in facility/event management is required, as is weekend and evening availability.  

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Create a welcoming and warm experience for all I-House visitors. Positively engage visitors and members by responding to inquiries, providing organizational and event information, and evaluating overall visitor experience
  • Track public interaction with I-House, respond appropriately to guest suggestions and concerns
  • Assist in identifying potential membership benefits and events based on visitor interests/composition
  • Identify potential stakeholders from visitor and member pool for potential donor cultivation
  • Provide effective customer service in-person, over the phone, and via email
  • Generate interest in I-House offerings by effectively explaining them to visitors, suggest events, programs, and membership offerings to visitors, based on their interests
  • Demonstrate a well-rounded understanding of I-House’s mission, vision and brand
  • Offer tours and promotion of facility rentals through outreach and marketing efforts
  • Manage facility rentals to outside parties, including calendaring, contracting, and oversight of scheduled events
  • Maintain and manage vendor relationships
  • Implement strategies for increased rentals, build relationships in the area to become a go-to site for facility/event rentals
  • Identify areas for facility and rental experience improvement and initiate efforts to improve facility offerings
  • Track and coordinate events with volunteers and staff
  • Work with the Facilities Assistant to ensure that events are staffed and managed in accordance with policies and procedures of I-House
  • Regularly asses I-House facilities and maintenance needs, provide recommendations as needed
  • Track and manage janitorial services
  • Has on call responsibilities for maintenance and other facility emergencies
  • Manages and oversees the operations and maintenance of the building, building systems and equipment, ensure equipment owned and operated by I-House is maintained in good condition
  • Handle transactions for event tickets, program fees, memberships, and donations
  • Assist customers with exchanges, returns and donations
  • Resolve visitor/customer service issues and/or elevate them to Management when appropriate
  • Operate computer, printer, and telephone equipment used for for transactions
  • Ensure visitor and facility data is entered into our database in a consistent and timely fashion


  • College degree or related work experience
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork orientation; able to work well with diverse staff, clients, and patrons
  • Accuracy and integrity in handling financial transactions and large sums of money
  • Comfortable operating PC computer systems and software, telephones and office equipment. Knowledge of Altru database preferred but not required

This is a full time position with an annual salary range of 35K-40K depending on experience. Benefits include medical and dental insurance as well as paid sick leave and vacation.
