The Manager of Accounting, Budgets and Finance will be a member of the Senior Management Staff and will report to Seedco’s Executive Director. They will work closely with Seedco program management and other senior staff to ensure Seedco’s overall fiscal well-being and will provide fiscal support to help foster Seedco’s relationships with existing funders and with new funding sources. Seedco is an affiliate of the Acacia Network, and the Manager of Accounting, Budgets and Finance position is accountable for Seedco’s accounting operations working in coordination with Acacia, including the production of periodic financial reports, oversight of the maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and safeguarding of assets by a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Manager of Accounting, Budgets and Finance will verify the accuracy of Seedco’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

Principal Accountabilities:


  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics, including fringe rates and occupancy rates
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for pricing decisions and contract negotiations
  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end results to identify and explain variances with respect to budgeted and historical results
  • Coordinate the annual year-end financial and federal A133/Single Audit processes
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of the IRS form 990, IRS form 5500 reporting on pension activities, and other reports required in connection with federal, state and local grant funded projects.
  • Provide full cycle management of Seedco’s budget
  • Oversee financial grant reporting to ensure timely submissions to funders, compliance with contracts and timely reimbursements in order to secure the maximum revenue for the organization
  • Act as official signer for Seedco on appropriate reports and documents
  • Act as contact liaison for funders, auditors, governmental entities, and other non-profits for the purposes of compliance to achieve further organizational goals
  • Provides guidance and counsel to the program staff on funder requirements



  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and review operations of the accounting function by Acacia, including review of work product to achieve fiscal and financial goals and objectives


  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings


Education and Related Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, accounting systems or related field, plus experience in both public accounting and nonprofit industry. CPA and/or MBA a plus and a minimum of 6 years of related experience required
  • Knowledge of not-for profit regulations, tax issues, practices, and internal control and systems and procedures required
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis
  • Experience with government contracts and community finance and banking, a significant plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer-based financial systems (FundEZ, a plus) and analytical/reporting tools
  • Minimum of three years of managerial experience in financial management
  • Experience in budgeting and budget planning including development of annual budgets, forecasting and variance analysis required
  • Prior experience in contracts negotiations and/or bid proposal development is highly desirable

  • Technical skills and experience in financial reporting and analysis, cash flow management, mergers and acquisitions and information technology including local and wide area networks
