The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms around the world. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research and provides consulting services to justice innovators.
The Center’s National Technical Assistance department provides training and expert assistance to jurisdictions across the county to support the planning, implementation, and enhancement of innovative approaches to justice. The department’s work encompasses drug treatment courts, community courts, Native American/Alaska Native tribal courts, prosecutor-led diversion initiatives, procedural justice, pretrial supervision, and many more areas of justice system reform.
Among other projects, the Center’s National Technical Assistance department leads the federally-funded State-Based Adult Drug Court Technical Assistance Program. Under this program, the Center provides intensive support to state-level drug court coordinators around the country, helping to develop statewide strategic plans for drug court enhancement, implement fidelity assessment strategies to ensure that drug courts follow best practices, create statewide training strategies for drug court teams, improving data collection and evaluation practices, and more. In addition, the Center runs the National Drug Court Online Learning System (www.TreatmentCourts.org) and regularly develops new online training content for drug court practitioners.
The National Technical Assistance department is seeking (2) two experienced attorneys with drug court expertise to serve as Senior Program Managers, working primarily on the State-Based Drug Court Technical Assistance Program. Reporting to the Director of Treatment Court Programs, the Senior Program Managers will immediately lead substantive training and technical assistance (TTA) projects and will be expected to take on significant responsibility for developing customized TTA plans, delivering onsite and remote TTA to drug courts across the country, managing client relationships, and developing new publications and online training content. Over time, the Senior Program Managers will likely have the opportunity to work on other national technical assistance projects beyond the drug court field as well.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Develop customized technical assistance plans to meet the specific needs of state-level drug court coordinators, local drug courts, and other clients as appropriate;
· Provide expert assistance, both remote and onsite, to drug courts and justice system partners seeking to plan, implement, or enhance drug courts;
· Serve as primary point of contact for assigned clients, leading communications with the client and managing client relationships;
· Conduct and host site visits involved a wide array of justice system stakeholders;
· Develop strong, collaborative relationships with funders, TTA providers, national experts, and other important partners in the field;
· Assist in developing practitioner monographs, fact sheets, toolkits, guidance documents, website features, and other written products, as well as online content for www.TreatmentCourts.org.
· Assist in writing grant proposals, reports, publications, and other written products;
· Develop and deliver presentations at conferences and training events;
· Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications: Senior Program Managers must have a J.D. and at least two years of substantive experience working with drug courts and/or other treatment courts (e.g., mental health courts, veterans treatment courts). The ideal candidate will be an attorney who has participated on a treatment court team or represented clients in a treatment court. Senior Program Managers should be comfortable and adept at working with judges, attorneys, court administrators, social service providers, elected officials, and other key justice system stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must. Extensive national travel is required.
