Haley House uses food and the power of community to break down barriers, open opportunities, and strengthen the neighborhoods we serve. Founded in 1966, Haley House has grown to include five interconnected branches: direct services (soup kitchen, food pantry, meal for elders), permanent affordable housing, urban agriculture, education and training (Take Back the Kitchen (TBK) and LiFT: Re-Entry Program), and social enterprise. Our direct services are located in the South End and Roxbury. 

This is a full-time position reporting to the Development Director that offers a competitive salary between $50,000 and $55,000 based on the successful candidate’s background and experience and includes excellent benefits, including health, dental, PTO and 403(b).

Role: Responsible for a wide range of fundraising activities including donation management, solicitations, and special events. This role also manages marketing and communication projects including both digital and print communications, the organization’s website, and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and improve existing systems for donation tracking, receipting, recognition of tribute donations, and other donor communications, ensuring timely and accurate receipting and donor communications and exceptional donor service
• Work closely with accounting firm to reconcile donation records against accounting records
• Collaborate with Grants Manager to ensure that all grants are accurately recorded and receipted, and any reporting requirements are communicated to appropriate staff
• Manage external communications, including website, social media channels, and email; 
• Collaborate with Development Director, Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager and other staff in creating social media content to support fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and other organizational goal
• Serve as the first point of contact for the organization by responding graciously to phone and email inquiries and representing the values and mission of the organization to the public
• Manage the production and mailing of direct mail fundraising pieces and other mailed communications
• Ensure that the Development team has the tools needed to support the organization effectively
• Collaborate with Development Director in the management of fundraising and marketing events, including (but not limited to) the Souper Bowl (February) and Block Party (June)
• Represent Haley House at community meetings and events, as needed
• Attend staff meetings and other meetings (including occasional board meetings) when requested   
• Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Personal honesty and integrity
• Excellent writing and organizational skills, attention to detail
• Experience with fundraising CRMs and donor management best practices
• Computer proficiency and ability and willingness to learn new software as needed
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work in a range of environments, including in a busy open-floor plan office and at crowded events in a variety of settings
• 3+ years experience in development/fundraising, preferably in a direct-service nonprofit organization
