GAIN’s purpose is to advance nutrition outcomes by improving the consumption of nutritious and safe food for all people, especially those most vulnerable to malnutrition. In particular, we aim to improve the consumption of safe and nutritious foods for—at a minimum—1 billion people over the next five years and target major improvements to food systems, resulting in more diverse and healthier diets for vulnerable people in countries where we work. GAIN Kenya has been operational in the country since 2010 and has received funding to continue and upscale its country programs at least until 2020.


We are seeking to deploy a Senior Technical Specialist, Knowledge Leadership to is strengthen the design and implementation of programs at GAIN by providing leadership in the development and follow through of learning agendas and related research and evaluation for diverse program work streams. The Senior Technical Specialist, Knowledge Leadership, will serve as focal point to several program work-streams within GAIN providing leadership to the development of learning agendas, including the integration of implementation research, program process and impact evaluation and the translation of that evidence for decision making. The STS will also provide support to program teams bringing in expertise in nutrition and program design, specifically drawing on GAIN and broader experience and the evidence base.


The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in programmatically relevant research – from design through analysis and dissemination and will be required to have extensive experience in research design and implementation skills and the publication of research results and/or evidence consolidation and translation. You will have expertise in nutrition program design and the understanding of developing a program using program theory tools.
