Roles and Responsibilities

·        Research and compile prospects of potential foundation, government and corporation support for Swords to Plowshares

·        Write foundation, government and corporation grant requests and reports under direction of the Assistant Director of Resource Development

·        Support Grants Team by assisting with grant writing, research, compiling grant materials for submission of grants and reports to foundation, government and corporate funders as directed

·        Maintain understanding of Swords to Plowshares’ programs, funding needs, and funding streams

·        Work with Program Managers to compile quarterly program summaries including program successes, special achievements, and client success stories

·        Manage grant stewardship calendar to assist with quarterly updates to funders based on program funded and/or interest

·        As directed, attend funder meetings and webinars, and take notes

·        Work directly with Swords to Plowshares’ Executive staff, Program Directors and program staff to identify the organization’s funding needs, and to complete grant requests and reports

·        Responsible for managing funder data in Salesforce--entering grants received, reports due dates, current contact information, notes, and attaching relevant documents

·        Support Grants Team through management of electronic and hard copy grant files by managing Salesforce entries, completing grant packages, creating and maintaining grant files, filing of grant documents and related administrative tasks

·        Attend weekly Grants Team meetings and bi-weekly Resource Development & Communications Meetings

·        Work directly with the RDC Director and Marketing, Events & Design Coordinator to assist with event sponsorship prospecting, writing of sponsorship proposals and/or other sponsorship solicitations

·        Assist the Resource Development & Communications Department with writing and proofreading assignments, special events, mailings and other miscellaneous department activities duties as assigned

·        Additional responsibilities include supporting department-wide responsibilities as needed, assisting with fundraising events and corporate volunteer engagement activities, attending staff meetings, completing assignments as directed, and other related duties as assigned by the Director of Resource Development & Communication


·        Excellent writing, proofreading and verbal communication skills a must

·        Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills to prioritize and carry out multiple tasks requiring rapid turnaround

·        High level of computer literacy, including MS Office and donor databases (experience with Salesforce is a plus)

·        Ability to produce high quality work with accuracy and attention to detail

·        Ability to manage multiple projects, adjust quickly to shifting priorities, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment

·        Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends (as needed to meet deadlines and for special events). Flex time is granted in these occasions

·        Appreciation of and commitment to the work of Swords to Plowshares

·        Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Cultural Humility Initiative
