Description

Ocean Bay Community Development Corporation (OBCDC) is currently hiring a Part Time Accountant. OBCDC is a non-profit organization serving the residents of the Rockaways, with particular attention to those living in public housing developments, to promote self-sufficiency. The Accountant will become part of an expanding organization with an opportunity for growth.


Responsibilities

 

  • Review bank balances on a weekly (Friday) basis and submit them to Executive Director
  • Review all invoices and check request that have been approved, post them to cash disbursement journal. Review all invoices that are allocated to the grant that incurred the expenses
  • Stamp all paid invoices and date in which they were paid and place in vendor folders
  • Documents that are restricted place them in the grants binder in which they belong
  • Post billings to granter/review payment received from granter that they reconcile
  • Place all back up documents in binders in which invoices are allocated
  • Post payroll and tax liabilities and allocate them grants charged twice a month
  • Reconcile each bank account at the end of the month
  • Keep files organized and accessible to the Executive Director
  • Review posting of all payments to ensure that they are in compliance with approved budget line
  • Prepare monthly revenue and expense report for Board of Directors
  • Quarterly update of staff vacation time, sick time, and personal day time
  • Provide every two weeks an update on OTPS of remaining amount left on grants for all contracts. Provide update of salaries for all contracts
  • Managing critical general operating activities (Prepare spread sheets and invoices for OBCDC awarded grants, call in payroll vendor, prepare cash flow with Executive Director

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor Degree
  • At least 10 years of work experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and workshop facilitation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Resourceful, team-oriented, flexible, outcome-oriented, creative, self-starter
  • Ability to work with participants facing multiple barriers to employment
  • Computer literate and familiarity with customer tracking systems
