The development assistant will be responsible for working in tandem and strategically with clinical staff (e.g., research, credentialing), fundraising and events office, and the executive director. This is a fantastic opportunity to get experience as a project manager, fundraising professional, development coordinator, and operations and administration expert. This role will directly report into the Major Gifts Officer and the Executive Director. The position is a full-time, salaried position.
Job Summary and Priorities Breakdown
Support (30%)
- Helping to respond to general queries (electronic and phone) about the foundation as needed.
- Helping in supporting audits for the RBT certification and CEU’s.
- Coordination of social media posts.
- Coordination of social media context.
- Advising others about which internal team member to approach for answers to anything technical or outside of job responsibilities.
- Work in coordination with marketing team on various projects
- Help with various projects assigned from the Board of Directors
- Assist in setting up meetings with internal staff and external partners.
- Additional support of the Executive Director as needed.
Fundraising and Donations (40%)
- Processing donations.
- Financial goal setting for fundraising on quarterly basis - reporting from Salesforce.
- Manage website updates and strategy around APF Stories, and thinking through parent content/stories/quotes.
- Collect, maintain, and update development and marketing content.
- Plan, prepare, and project manage social media fundraising campaigns (e.g., #Giving Tuesday or Autism Awareness Month).
- Plan, prepare, project manage, and provide event coordination in person campaigns (e.g., Galas).
- Plan, prepare, project manage, and provide event coordination in APF’s annual conference.
- Running reports on annual donors and high network individuals
- Event donor and prospect profiles - help with Run of Show detailing.
- Prospect research
- Researching Foundations that align with APF -- inquiring about submitting application and detailing proposals
- Working with the Executive Director/Major Gifts Officer on identifying Long Beach and Seal Beach businesses that might be willing to sponsor or support APF.
- Creating and maintaining fundraising collateral; sponsorship and gift opportunities.
- Helping out in the 990 Review.
- Additional support of the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer as needed.
Grants (20%)
- Seek out various grant opportunities and conduct prospect research as assigned.
- Provide support on grant writing and proposals.
- Oversee grant administration.
- Additional support of the Executive Director and Major Gifts Officer as needed.
Stewardship (10%)
- Sending donor thank you letters within 48 hours, outside of Classy gifts. Setting up a system with the correct individual at AP to ensure prompt gift processing and acknowledgement of donor gifts.
- Board gifts, special gift recognition, and other swag items to provide at events or to donors in recognition of their awareness and support.
