    Description

Join the Foundation Against Intolerance & Racism's (FAIR) mission to protect civil rights and civil liberties in an authentically nonpartisan manner. As our Development Director, you’ll steward relationships and build funding partnerships that align with our mission of advocating for the rights of all people who are denied equal protection, free speech and other essential liberties, regardless of whether they are members of underrepresented groups. FAIR supplements its legal efforts by working at the grassroots level to promote a pro-human culture based on values of universal equality, fairness, understanding, and our shared humanity. This role reports to the Executive Director of FAIR.

Identity-based programs and practices that fixate on immutable characteristics have polarized our society and undermined the valuable progress we’ve made over the past half century. The divisive ideology underlying these policies has also driven a shift away from classical liberal values. Erosion of the core principles of universal equality and non-discrimination have encouraged decision makers to adopt strategies that promote equity of outcomes by treating some groups differently, and often more favorably, than others. FAIR aims to reverse this trend with a dual approach: (1) through litigation that ensures diversity and inclusion efforts are non-discriminatory and (2) instigating a cultural shift at the grassroots level that celebrates a broad range of individual traits, talents and experiences and emphasizes equality of opportunity, not outcome.

    Relationship Building & Fundraising (100%)

    • Co-create (with the Executive Director as a guide and thought partner) an innovative approach to fundraising that aligns with FAIR's values of transparency, trust and collective responsibility
    • Build authentic relationships with donors who share our vision of advocating for civil rights and civil liberties that are frequently undermined by identity-based practices and policies.
    • Develop an individual donor portfolio size of 100 minimum with a 50k+ annual giving capacity
    • Foster relationships that achieve an annual goal of $800K in year one, $1.5M in year two and $3M by the end of year three to help in the strategic mission of Kinfolk.
    • Oversee and drive the entire grants management operations from grant-writing and proposal development as well as managing the pipeline to ensure FAIR maintains a sustainable development pipeline
    • Collaborate with our Board of Directors and Board of Advisors to expand FAIR's community of supporters
    • Develop funding partnerships that honor both donor needs
    • Design engagement opportunities that deepen understanding of FAIR's work
    • Ensure FAIR's fundraising practices align with principles of civil rights and civil liberties
    • Build systems for transparent and authentic donor communications
