The Center for American Women and Politics (CAWP), a unit of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Project Coordinator II. The Research Project Coordinator II assists scholars and staff at the CAWP at the Eagleton Institute of Politics on major research projects, including project planning, engagement with scholarly literature, data collection, qualitative and quantitative analyses (including analysis of large datasets), and data visualization. The position also assists with CAWP’s ongoing data collection and management and contributes to CAWP’s research memos and blogs.

Required skills:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive understanding of American politics at all levels. 
  • Proficiency in Windows and MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. 
  • Reliable, well-organized and efficient. 
  • Comfortable working for an organization that is political, yet bi/non-partisan and an organization that straddles the worlds of politics and academia. 
  • Expected to have advanced knowledge expertise in at least one of the fields in which they are expected to identify, analyze, and synthesize research, which include political science, public policy/public administration, and women and gender studies. 
  • Specialized expertise in these areas is expected so that the employee can fulfill responsibilities without needing additional, content-specific education after being hired.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis. 
  • Strong understanding of subject of women and US politics (particularly as candidates and officeholders), and strong understanding of intersectionality and its importance in research and analysis, is preferred.

Note that this not a remote position. While there are temporary telecommuting allowances made for COVID, this staff member will be expected to work in the New Brunswick, NJ office on a regular basis.
