Age of Montessori is an independent and accredited teacher certification institute for adult learners to become certified Montessori Guides in Infant-Toddler, Early Childhood, and Elementary I and II. We are leaders in the US and the world in teacher certification and professional development that incorporates the authentic methods and visionary insights of Dr. Maria Montessori and Mary Ellen Maunz in the development of children to their fullest potential. 

This full-time, paid position of Executive Director of Age of Montessori is for a business leader with experience and know-how in the areas of corporate management, financial management/oversight, team leadership and cooperation. The position calls for someone with a passion for innovative educational processes, and ideally some knowledge of online learning. This position is responsible for overseeing the administration of business functions and strategic focus of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, oversight of marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the board of directors.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1)    Board Governance:  Work with Board of Directors (Board) to fulfill the organization’s mission. Communicate effectively with Board, schedule regular meetings, set agendas with Board input, present financial reports and status of organization, and implement Board decisions and resolutions. Submission of annual budgets and accurate performance results on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

2)    Executive Team: Work with and meet regularly with Executive Team.

3)    Viability and Financial Performance:  Develop resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization. Responsible for successful oversight of marketing functions to maximize student enrollments in certification and professional development courses, product sales, oversee successful fundraising efforts and manage staff to continue to manifest the superior authentic content developed by founder Mary Ellen Maunz.

4)    Organization Mission and Strategy: Work with Executive Team, Board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through courses, products, services, and programs, with both short-term and long-term strategic planning and community outreach.

5)    Accreditation: Work with Program Director and accreditation facilitator on the accountability for federal MACTE and potential state accrediting bodies.

6)    Organization Operations: Oversee and implement resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff and approval of remuneration for faculty hired by Program Director.

Partner with Executive Team and staff to address workplace concerns and elevate to Board if necessary.

Specific Responsibilities

·       Report to Board and work closely with Executive Team to maintain its involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.

·       Recruit new board members.

·       Supervise and collaborate with organization staff.

·       Strategic planning and implementation.

·       Planning and operation of annual budget.

·       Manage human resources of the organization and supports staff, volunteers and members in programs and operations.

·       Engage in fundraising, grant writing and developing other revenues.

·       Collaborate with Director of Marketing, Program Director and Educational Technology Director on communications efforts.

·       Oversee organization’s meetings.

·       Establish employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.

·       Review and approve contracts for services.

·       Other duties as assigned by the Board.


Qualifications

·       A bachelor’s degree or higher—preferably in business or entrepreneurship.

·       Transparent and high integrity leadership with a strong work ethic.

·       Mission driven.

·       Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience.

·       Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.

·       A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.

·       Active fundraising experience.

·       Experience and skill in working with an executive team and a board of directors.

·       High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to collaborate with Executive Team to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, Board, volunteers and donors.

·       Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, organizational development.

·       Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community.

·       Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.

·       Strong written and oral communication skills.

·       Strong public speaking ability.
