Description

Friends of the Oaxaca Learning Center (FOLC: https://www.tolc.org.mx) is a USA not for profit

whose mission is to raise funds and secure support for The Oaxaca Learning Center (TOLC:

https://iiacaprendizaje.org/en/; tolc.org.mx.) is in search of its first Executive Director.

Founded nearly twenty years ago, TOLC is a Mexican non-profit organization that provides its

students with skills to break out of the cycle of poverty, violence, sexism, and isolation to

succeed in school and beyond. It offers tutoring in math, physics, chemistry, and English

language that result in students routinely improving their grades in school by 30% - 40%. More

importantly, TOLC provides an integrated training program based upon understanding how

poverty and social marginalization often causes high school dropout rates and perpetuate the

cycles of poverty, violence, and other societal ills.

The basic skills required of the Executive Director position are:

1. Bilingual fluency: Spanish and English

2. Superior organizational skills, ability to set priorities and effectively manage time;

3. Proven diplomatic and interpersonal people management skills

4. Demonstrated experience in fund raising

5. Ability to enhance internal and external relationships, including volunteers, employees,

partners, and donors

6. Demonstrated ability to deliver results and translate words into action with utmost

integrity and respect for all persons

7. Digital literacy, including experience using MS Office, Google Drive, etc.

The basic requirements of the position are:

1. Residency in Oaxaca the majority of the year

2. Leadership while running day to day operations

3. Fundraising

4. Assist in Board Development and strategic planning

5. Managing community relations: developing and maintaining strong relationships with

peers, donors, the media and more

6. Overseeing programs and activities: working with Board, staff and other stakeholders to

ensure that the mix of programs and activities is achieving FOLC’s mission
