The Actors Fund, a nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, seeks a Social Worker to join our team to provide intensive clinical case management services, groups and seminars to assist women of the performing arts and entertainment community affected by a significant illness.


This position will work collaboratively with individuals, families and their significant others providing intensive client centered clinical case management to address a myriad of concerns woman face when dealing with a serious medical condition. You will address the overall function and maintenance of a person’s physical and social environment towards the goals of facilitating physical safety, stabilizing health and mental health, encouraging personal growth as well as financial stability.  You will conduct assessments and develop treatment plans, provide a range of clinical support from crisis intervention to supportive counseling, serve as a liaison to internal and external resources as well as evaluate and advocate for financial assistance. You will meet with clients in their homes, hospital or office depending upon the presenting need. In addition you will be responsible for coordinating necessary support services to address home care/safety needs, financial management, legal and/or entitlement issues.


You will develop and facilitate related groups and seminars to meet the needs of this community.


You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other programs of The Actors Fund as well as unions, industry management, hospitals, home care agencies and community organizations to facilitate treatment plans and services. Additionally you may identify and develop relationships with community and mental health resources and provide outreach to the community to promote services.



  • Masters in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work and state licensure (or eligibility) are required.
  • To perform this job successful and individual should possess strong case management and advocacy skills. The candidate should be able to consistently convey a sense of empathy with people and demonstrate a solid clinical acumen.
  • Experience in working with those addressing significant health and mental issues is helpful as well as a familiarity with public benefits.
  • May be required to work an adjusted schedule; evening or weekend hours.
