Food Security & Nutrition Coordinator (AmeriCorps Position)

Hunger Intervention Program is seeking three AmeriCorps Members to provide direct services to North King County children and families. Each AmeriCorps member will focus on one project: 1) distributing meals through HIP's Weekend Food program (Healthy HIP Packs) 2) cooking and serving Afterschool Meals and Summer Meals and 3) delivering remote and in-person nutrition education classes and series. 

Applicants are encouraged to apply if they are...

- willing to grow their leadership skills 

- a home cook with the desire to learn how to cook for a large group

- able to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team 

- proficient in basic computer skills including Microsoft and Google suites

Major AmeriCorps service components will include:

- serving meals and interacting with volunteers and participants on a regular basis

- leading nutrition education classes and series 

- ensuring the safe handling of food by complying with local health & safety rules

- maintaining organized food storage spaces and coordinating food deliveries

- accurately counting and reporting all activities in a timely manner

- creating a dynamic and welcoming environment for all volunteers and program participants

- creative in impromptu problem solving

- participating in all relevant organizational meetings and training
