Position Overview: The Occupational Therapist will participate as a member of the educational team to assess student performance in the areas of Motor Skills/Physical Development.


Salary Range: $58,437 - $98,958 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience) 


Qualifications: Bilingual in Spanish (preferred). A Master's Degree in occupational therapy is preferred (Bachelor's Degree is required). Be a Registered Occupational Therapist (OTR). Appropriate certification and licensure in occupational therapy by the District of Columbia. Experience as an occupational therapy, secondary experience preferred. Experience working closely with diverse families. Knowledge about special education practice and regulations, particularly those pertaining to DC schools

The ability to collaborate and work as part of a team

Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong interest in, or experience with, language immersion, 1:1 technology, and IB Middle Years Program model. Commitment to keeping current on best practices and evidence-based interventions in special education, technology, and general education. Commitment to ensuring access and achievement for our learners with exceptional learning needs.


Essential Attributes:


  • Assess student performance in the area of motor skills/physical development
  • Develop Assessment Reports
  • Identify student abilities within educational, developmental or functional parameters; develop goals and objectives for consideration in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team meeting
  • Develop individual occupational therapy intervention plans
  • Provide all occupational therapy services as specified by the respective therapy intervention plans 
  • Collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and reports
  • Keep current on all OSSE regulations and initiatives
  • Demonstrate effective occupational therapy skill development for students across grade levels
  • Participates in MDT/IEP committee meetings to interpret evaluation results to parents and school personnel.
  • Provide a high degree of communication through a variety of mediums with parents and students
  • Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students Other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure that our 1:1 Chromebooks program is implemented effectively for students by infusing technology into instruction.
