Director, People & Culture

Location: CA, NY and MA areas preferable, Candidates with prior long-term virtual experience will be considered

The Director of People & Culture (P&C) is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our national team of approximately 50 employees. The role is critical in executing our people initiatives across the full employee lifecycle, providing great internal customer support, training/coaching for our people managers, driving HR functional excellence and continuous improvement around things like sourcing/recruitment, onboarding and development planning, performance management, etc. The Director reports to the Chief of People & Equity and is preferable to be located where Health Leads currently works (CA, NY or MA) however, candidates with prior long-term virtual experience will be considered.

Required Experience and Capabilities:

  • The ability to understand short- and long-term organizational goals and recommend implementation plans, new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in the development of HR within the organization
  • A true hands-on approach, as well as the ability to successfully monitor the "pulse" of the employees to ensure a high level of employee engagement
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance practices
  • Coaching and mentoring at management level, using influence skills and leveraging HR expertise to partner with leaders for decision-making, strategically and operationally
  • Success in creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention and reward programs
  • Being an enthusiastic team player, with a strong drive to create a positive and inclusive work environment
  • Bias for action; strong solutions-focused approach to work
  • Passion for innovative HR practices, balanced with pragmatism and ability to prioritize

Basic Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university
  • 5+ years human resource business partner experience
  • Experience supporting entry level employee client groups through Executive level leaders
  • Experience supporting professional service providers (consultants, project managers, client service professionals, etc.)
  • Passion for the mission of Health Leads and commitment to Health Leads’ core values: shared leadership, empathy and genuine relationships, justice through equity and inclusion, and constant and courageous learning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to building cultural humility by continually learning and by actively promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work.
  • Master's Degree or MBA in HRM
  • Prior experience as people manager
  • Prior experience aligning work with organization’s mission. We center our work around our mission, so the Director of P&C should work hard to understand our vision, mission, values and goals.
  • Developed thoughtful internal communications strategies. We believe in transparency and seek to balance that ideal with conscientiousness around how we share information internally.
  • Pursuing problem-solving through alignment and inclusion. We take pride in our diversity and want to leverage it to reach our organizational goals.
  • Experience driving excellent performance with all employees. We believe that every role in our team is important and we want to encourage a culture that values excellence in executing our work.
  • The Director of P&C should be able to develop HR programming to support organizational goals, such as manager development or succession planning.
