The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms around the world. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to improve public safety and reduce the use of jail and prison. Nationally and internationally, the Center performs original research on topics of justice reform and provides consulting services to criminal justice innovators.

Bronx Child Trauma Support (BCTS) is one of the Center for Court Innovation’s clinical programs that helps young people and families recover from violent crime. Operating out of the Office of the Bronx District Attorney, the Program provides trauma-informed psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and court support services to children, teens, and families victimized by sexual abuse, intimate partner violence, homicide, and community violence. Alongside the Office’s Crime Victims Assistance Unit that provides advocacy and clinical services to crime victims ages 16 and older, BCTS staff support families throughout their engagement in Criminal and Family Court processes, advocate on behalf of clients with prosecutors and attorneys, and collaborate with other service providers such as the Administration for Children’s Services.  

Bronx Child Trauma Support is seeking a bilingual English-Spanish psychotherapist to provide Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and trauma-informed play therapy to children and teens (ages 2-16) who have witnessed or been the direct victim of violent crime. Reporting to the Project Director, the psychotherapist will conduct assessments and provide TF-CBT, play therapy, crisis intervention, and court support to youth and their caregivers.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

·        Conduct intakes and assessments;

·        Provide TF-CBT and trauma-informed play therapy to clients ages 2-16 and their caregivers;

·        Provide crisis intervention, court accompaniment, and court support to clients;

·        Maintain case files, progress notes, and program statistics;

·        Assist the Project Director in supervision of MSW Student Interns.


Qualifications: The ideal candidate will be must be an LMSW or LCSW (LMSW’s will receive supervision that counts toward the LCSW) with at least 2-3 years of experience providing TF-CBT in English and Spanish to young persons who have witnessed crime, particularly intimate partner violence, child sexual abuse/assault, and community violence. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working with immigrant communities. Bilingual (English/Spanish) in written and oral strongly preferred. Candidate must be TF-CBT trained (online and two-day training).


Position Type: Part-time (8-16 hours/week), afternoons/evenings hours (M-Th, 3pm to 7pm)
