Job Title: Communications & Outreach Manager

Organization: SE Uplift Neighborhood Coalition

Reports to: Executive Director

Status: Full time, hourly, non-exempt

Compensation: $49,000+ ($23.79/hour)

Overview

The Communications Manager will manage the strategic direction and content for all of SE Uplift’s communications. This position will provide design and visual communications support for all of SE Uplift programs, neighborhood volunteers, and community partners for promoting events, education, community-building and advocacy. This position also organizes SE Uplift’s outreach, such as social media and skill-building workshops and provides direct support to five or more Neighborhood Associations and community groups in the SE Coalition area. This position will require occasional weekend and evening responsibilities and work hours.


Essential Functions:


Communications:

·     Manage SE Uplift’s primary communication outlets. Including monthly e-news, social media and website. Specifics tasks may include:

·     Develop compelling content for SE Uplift’s social media platforms on a daily basis.

·     Design original written and visual content and update SE Uplift website/webpages

·     Develop compelling content for the SE Uplift’s monthly e-newsletter. Serve as the primary contact for SEUL’s newsletter.

·     Design, produce and distribute print and digital event publicity materials.

·     Coordinate creative and interactive content and staff participation at all events.


Outreach & engagement Manager:

·     Provide direct support to Neighborhood Associations and other groups as assigned.

·     Assist 5-10 neighborhood associations and other groups with project development, outreach and communications, governance and administration, and best practices for small, volunteer-driven nonprofits. Assist with capacity building and media support for organizations aligned with SE Uplift’s Mission.

·     Coordinate and conduct meaningful partnership engagement on behalf of SE Uplift. Community outreach and engagement will require occasional evening and weekend attendance at local events tabling opportunities, trainings, and workshops.

·     Annually develop and implement skill-based trainings for community volunteers and events designed to increase SE Uplift’s public visibility and the public’s understanding, support and engagement with SE Uplift in order to achieve our mission.

·     Work with coalition staff and build on existing organizational partnerships to increase engagement and voice among populations underrepresented in the neighborhood system through SE Uplift events, trainings, and tabling.


Collaboration with SE Uplift’s staff

·     Assist in creating feedback loops to identify issues and opportunities for strengthening Neighborhood Associations. Participate in monthly team meetings to assess Neighborhood Association strengths and areas for development, and to create support strategies for programs.

·     Participate in SE Uplift programming, board, committees, and projects as assigned.

·     As requested, assist other team members with special SE Uplift projects and events and/or advocacy efforts, which may involve working with multiple Neighborhood Associations or Coalitions. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

·     Support the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Access Workgroup to develop a DEIA Plan.


Desired qualifications:

·     4-year degree or equivalent experience required

·     Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative cloud including photoshop and illustrator

·     Proficiency with Microsoft office suites and constant contact a plus

·     Advanced proficiency with social media engagement including but not limited to Facebook and Instagram

·     Experience with video editing software

·     Strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access principals

·     Prior experience working with marginalized and underrepresented groups

·     Strong written and oral communication skills required

·     Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·     Ability to juggle multiple projects at once
