Organizational Summary:

Dreamcatchers, a newly formed youth development organization in SW Florida, is seeking a full-time Program Director. The mission of Dreamcatchers is to raise aspirations, build resiliency and promote critical life skills in the lives of young people through expanding their worldviews and surrounding them with long-term relational, educational and social-emotional support systems. Dreamcatchers serves students living in the city of Immokalee and is designed around a 9 year mentoring model which follows a small cohort of students from the time they enter the program in 6th grade all the way to the 2nd year of their post-secondary experience - whether it be college and/or career. The program includes experiential, environmental and expeditionary learning opportunities in conjunction with the support of committed adult volunteers and peer mentors.   

Position Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for managing the daily program operations of Dreamcatchers. This position has significant decision making, supervisory, administrative, program management and service delivery responsibilities, including inter-team coordination and contract, regulatory and policy compliance. Additionally, this individual will be responsible for managing the program’s fiscal resources, manage program development initiatives and other quality assurance/improvement activities, as well as help maintain good relations with community stakeholders. The Program Director will be responsibility for developing and maintaining a program culture that is person centered, outcome oriented and dedicated to continuous quality improvement.


Knowledge, Skills and Ability: 

§ Willingness to make at least a five year commitment to serve in the city of Immokalee, Florida

§ At least 7 years supervisory experience and managing youth development programs

§ Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; Graduate degree preferred

§ Proven ability to maintain perspective, handle crises, and effectively manage stressful situations

§ Demonstrated facilitation skills and experience leading groups

§ Team-oriented and collaborative-minded

§ Competency in use of word processing and spreadsheet programs

§ Excellent written and oral communication skills

§ Demonstrated skills in effective supervision

§ Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills

§ Strong knowledge of community resources and social service systems

§ Familiarity with trauma-informed, strength-based, and restorative practices

§ Experience with youth related risk-management best practices

§ Current Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) certification or ability to acquire it within 3 months of hire

§ Clean Driving Record

§ Willingness to drive a 15 passenger van


§ Coordinate and provide leadership in a team setting to plan, promote, conduct and evaluate all Dreamcatchers programs

§ Design evidence-based programming for all core programs

§ Help train, supervise and evaluate all future program staff

§ Recruit, select, train and supervise volunteers

§ Develop, cultivate and maintain Dreamcatchers’ community resources in support of mentoring activities

§ Oversee all organizational approved program priorities, protocols and policies

§ Build strong relationships between teachers, administrators, guidance team members and coaches at the local schools

§ Build strong relationships with other youth serving organizations and community stakeholders to help advance the Dreamcatchers’ mission

§ Ensure timely, appropriate, and effective supervision and evaluation for program staff, teens, and/or volunteers

§ Oversee validated assessment tools for all students and programs

§ Solicit feedback from parents, students and school officials about program effectiveness

§ Prepare program results Executive Director and Board review

§ Maintain and keep current all Dreamcatchers’ vans and program equipment

§ Oversee all program budgets

§ Coordinate and facilitate weekly program manager meetings

§ Participate various Dreamcatchers committees and provide status reports

§ Willingness to travel out of state to get trained for a week after being hired


Other Qualifications:

§ Qualified applicants will have minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience working with low income youth. 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·        Responsible for supervising all program staff

·        Responsible for supervising community volunteers

·        Responsible for supervising Americorps volunteers

Work Environment/Dynamics:

§ Dreamcatchers maintains an office in Immokalee, FL. The base of most its programs is in the local schools and on expeditions. Work schedule is based on a 40-hour workweek, but extended hours are often necessary. Weekend and evening hours are frequently required. This position will require some travel. 


The pay range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Dreamcatchers offers a competitive benefits package, including health and retirement plans.

Level of Language Proficiency

Bilingual Spanish and/or Haitian-Creole speaker a plus.
