Description

Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) is a non-profit organization that works to interrupt and prevent human trafficking by educating and equipping employers to assist human trafficking victims. BEST is seeking a full-time Development and Communications Coordinator. The primary responsibilities will be creating written and visual content for external-facing communications, including social media, website content, donation campaigns, blog posts, and marketing materials. This position will also assist the Director of Development & Communications in writing grant applications and researching new grant opportunities. The ideal candidate has experience managing social media campaigns, understands SEO, is creative, capable of writing persuasively for a variety of audiences, is well-organized and capable of meeting target due dates, and is able to self-initiate.

Major Activities and Responsibilities

  • Manage BEST's social media
  • Write website content and regularly update BEST's website
  • Support our Director of Development and Communications with providing communications materials for BEST's external partners, including businesses, government agencies, state associations, the media, and grant makers
  • Research and write impact stories about BEST's work
  • Design and write print and e-newsletters
  • Create and schedule e-blasts and maintain BEST's general email list
  • Provide writing and graphic design support for three annual donor campaigns
  • Write and design collateral materials to support BEST's programs
  • Coordinate with contracted designers and printers to create communications materials
  • Support the development team with written communications for donors and coordinate mass mailings
  • Provide additional support as needed

  • Intelligent, learns quickly, and adapts to new situations and different writing styles
  • Excellent follow-through, organization, and attention to details
  • Strong team player
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience

Preferred Capabilities and Skills

  • Experience in or exposure to the nonprofit sector
  • Experience understanding and representing the experiences of marginalized populations in story form
  • 2+ years in a communications role
  • Experience writing website and marketing content
  • Experience with Salesforce, Asana, SharePoint, Adobe Create Suite, Canva, and Microsoft suite

Position Details

  • 40 hours/week with a flexible work week and flexible leave plan
  • Hourly pay $24-$29/hour depending on experience. If an applicant has more experience, the position, title, and pay may increase
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vison insurance, generous vacation and holiday time off, wellness pay, and 401(k) employer contributions
  • Position is hybrid, based in Seattle, and currently in the office one day/week
