Mother Cabrini Health Foundation seeks to hire a Compliance Associate who will help the Foundation to implement its compliance program and risk management framework. The goal of the compliance program is to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct of employees, board members & service providers while fostering an environment of strong internal controls.  This role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and focuses on performing a variety of compliance and risk management tasks to help execute the compliance program effectively. The Compliance Associate liaises with all lines of business, internal auditors, and other third-party Vendors. The candidate must be willing to work collaboratively on all tasks as needed in a fast-paced work environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Executes a checklist of internal compliance review tasks to ensure that Foundation policies and procedures are implemented properly and effectively.
  • Administers online compliance training coursework to staff and tracks completion status.
  • Organizes the Foundation’s compliance meetings and training sessions. Prepares applicable agendas and coordinates the collection of meeting materials.
  • Assists with a variety of tasks to help identify and classify potential conflicts of interest.
  • Collects, analyzes, and summarizes information to prepare compliance reports for the Audit Committee and C-Suite.
  • Conducts various grant testing functions and responds to compliance risk flags identified by Program staff to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and best practices.
  • Maintains compliance template forms and updates policy documents as needed.
  • Conduct background checks on prospective and existing grantee organizations and investment managers using LexisNexis tool.   
  • Collaborates with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution.
  • Prepare summaries of internal compliance meetings with core business lines and meetings with external vendors.
  • Prepares Power point presentation for compliance trainings sessions.
  • Processes and tracks compliance team expenses. Prepares periodic reports analyzing expenditure to date versus team expense budget.
  • Prepares dashboard reports to track the status of compliance team initiatives.
  • Conducts industry research and analyzes trends to stay current on new requirements and laws to help ensure that the MCHF compliance program aligns with best practices.
  • Assists with a variety of special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • BA, BS, or BBA degree required.
  • 1-2 years of professional/ internship work experience, or relevant coursework, dealing with compliance, risk, internal audit, financial operations, and information technology; preference for experience implementing and/or testing internal controls.   
  • Experience working with external (outsourced) vendors a plus. 
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • A demonstrated ability and interest in working independently on a wide range of issues, as well as the ability to work constructively and creatively as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as organizational ability.

MCHF will provide any reasonable accommodation(s) required to perform the essential duties of this role, including working under the following conditions and requirements:

  • Working in a high-rise office environment.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
