The technology revolution is reshaping our world and has coincided with an equally significant development: the dramatic extension of the human lifespan. With Americans now routinely living into their 70s, 80s, 90s, and beyond, a brand new set of opportunities exists to harness the power of technology to transform the way we age.

Older Adults Technology Services (OATS) operates at the center of these intersecting revolutions, innovating new approaches that combine technology, learning, community-building, and advocacy to create pathways that produce transformational outcomes in the lives of older adults.

OATS is at the forefront of this movement. Over the last several years the organization, founded and led by acclaimed social entrepreneur Tom Kamber, has opened the world’s first technology-themed community centers for older adults, built a network of over 75 partner locations in six different states, created an online learning platform for seniors, and publishes a provocative and popular website, all of which are carefully designed to deliver award-winning program experiences that engage, challenge, and support people aged 60 and older to embrace and use technology to build their social networks, increase their economic mobility, get healthier, learn and create, and make their voices heard on issues they care about. The OATS team and its wildly successful Senior Planet model have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fast Company, PBS, NPR, and the TODAY Show.

In 2018 OATS launched programs in Colorado and is looking forward to the opening of the next Senior Planet Center in Denver later this summer. The Role

Building off of this well-established foundation, OATS is bringing its Senior Planet model to Colorado, which includes a technology-themed community space exclusively for older adults. Modeled after Senior Planet’s two thriving Centers in Manhattan and Plattsburgh, New York, the Senior Planet Center in Denver will empower people 60+ to learn, work, and explore new ways to thrive in today’s digital world. This innovative resource is set to become a critical part of Colorado’s aging, technology, and entrepreneurship scenes once open.

We are hiring a Senior Planet Center Manager to plan and oversee all aspects of the community space in Denver’s Lowry neighborhood. This individual will collaborate with the broader OATS team and the local community to build a thriving membership of older adults who are “Aging with Attitude” and engaging with new technologies to improve their lives in transformational ways.

This position is a unique opportunity to help build a movement of older adults, to wear many hats on a mission-driven team, and to help forge the future of aging in Colorado.

Under the management of State Director, the Senior Planet Center Manager here in Colorado will lead all dimensions of the Senior Planet Center’s operations, programming, and volunteer staffing to start. Opportunities to stretch into partnerships and development are there for the taking!

The Senior Planet Center Manager:

• Believes that aging is a natural process to be embraced and celebrated.

• Oversees the policies, practices and daily operations of the Center to ensure a safe and

enjoyable experience for all members and visitors.

• Creates and organizes the production, promotion, and delivery of a diverse and appealing mix

of high-quality programming and events.

• Manages a team of dedicated and diverse volunteers to support daily operations, regular programming, and special events.

• Cares about the development of new technology and its impact on digital culture and can

make connections about its usefulness and impact on older adults, without “dumbing it down.”

• Can work with partner organizations and different constituencies in order to generate

awareness of the Center and drive a robust volume of visitors to it.

• Radiates excitement and fun, and fosters a sense of belonging among the Center’s patrons, staff, and volunteers of belonging.

•Collaborates with the State Director and Program Lead to connect your work at the Senior Planet Center into the overall strategy for Senior Planet Colorado.

This description is a general overview of anticipated responsibilities, and the role may require

different or additional duties to be fulfilled as required.

The ideal candidate will exhibit both creativity and an aptitude for flawlessly planning, scheduling and organizing events and programs. As the public face of the Center, the manager must be poised, confident, well-spoken, engaging, and exhibit good judgment.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in a related industry or setting, such as social change organizations, membership associations, political offices, or forward-looking public agencies, or any other setting where innovation and drive are emphasized and tangible success has been clearly demonstrated.
