Non-Profit Country Director Job Posting:

The Project Somos Children’s Village is an eco-sustainable community aiming to break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala by providing quality education and healthy food to children in need. As an education centre, the Village provides pre-school and supplemental educational support to children in the local community.

 Project Somos further supports the children’s families by providing parenting classes in topics such as non-violent parenting, nutrition and hygiene. We believe that healthy, educated children can help break the cycle of poverty for future generations in Guatemala.

Project Somos is seeking a Country Director to join its team situated near Tecpan, Guatemala. This Canadian non-profit organization is located in the village of Chivarabal, just outside of Tecpan. This position requires strong leadership, a range of knowledge and skills and a lot of flexibility.

Responsibilities:

-       Oversee day to day operations of the Project

-       Host and manage visiting volunteer groups

-       Post volunteer positions, conduct interviews, manage long-term volunteer placement

-       Maintain positive community relationships with the local village

-       Work closely with Fund Development Manager to gather and provide impactful stories from on the ground

-       Provide current information about on-the-ground programming and updates

-       Collaborate on grant applications and fundraising campaigns

-       Manage Project Somos team

-       Work with foreman in maintaining buildings and infrastructure

-       Oversee Risk-management and Safety of the Project

-       Prepare quarterly reports for large donors

-       Meet with and reporting to Board of Directors in Canada on a regular basis

 Skills and Qualifications:

-       English and Spanish language proficiency are a must (written and spoken)

-       Strong Leadership and Problem Solving skills

-       Ability to use social media comfortably (FaceBook, Instagram)

-       Computer proficiency  (database, use of Excel, Google Docs, MailChimp, Zoom)

-       Strong Communication skills

-       Organizational and administrative skills

-       Ability to deal with people and crisis situations

-       Experience with donors and donor relations

-       Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR training

 Remuneration:

A good salary is provided and could  include accommodation on the Project property.
