General Description:       

The Senior Manager, Membership, is a vital member of the Membership and Mentorship Department and is primarily responsible for overseeing established special interest groups activities. This position is responsible for actively participating as one of the key points of contact for SIG leadership, marketing SIG products and events, SIG membership recruitment, and the development of new SIG products and services. This position coordinates all SIG member communications and works closely with the Senior Director of Membership and Mentorship provide staff support and assistance to the SIG leadership.


Primary Position Responsibilities:

·        Assist with the development of SIGs and ensure quality customer service to all SIG leadership and members

·        Work with Sr. Director in the development of strategies for SIGs to serve their members

·        Assist SIG chairs with development of new projects for SIGs to undertake that serve the mission of both the SIG and AASLD

·        Assist SIG chairs and steering committee members to develop objectives and goals to meet those objectives

·        Oversight of SIG sub-committees and tracking of volunteer involvement in AMS

·        Work with SIG leadership to develop regular membership communication through email and via listservs

·        Work with assigned staff to assist with organization, implementation and evaluation of SIG webinars and other

virtual and face-to-face events including SIG buswiness meetings taking place at the Liver Meeting® and DDW

·        Schedule and participate in SIG leadership conference calls

·        Draft meeting agendas and monthly reports and ensure meeting reports are submitted to the Governing Board

in a timely manner

·        Prepare and maintain individual SIG budgets

·        Oversight of SIG web pages and content

·        Work with other membership staff to monitor and maintain SIG membership in database and to prepare reports

to SIG chairs regularly regarding membership statistics

·        Work with SIG chairs and co-chairs to manage the nomination and election process of SIG leadership

·        Engage more members to actively participate on committees

·        Assist in the established structure and organization for each of the SIGs.

·        Mobilize the SIGs to engage with AASLD on webinars, conference content, blogs, and other educational

content.

·        Manage and administer all SIG related events at The Liver Meeting®.

 

Special Initiatives:

·        Assist the Sr. Director to initiate, design, and manage new revenue enhancing programs.

 

May be assigned other duties or special projects as necessary


Education and Experience

·        Bachelor’s degree required with an emphasis on member management with a nonprofit organization or

membership or trade association

  • Five plus years of industry or association experience including working with volunteer leaders and non-profit committees or boards
  • Membership retention, recruitment and engagement experience
  • Supervisory experience is highly desired

 

Skills Needed in Position:

·        Experience successfully managing volunteer committees or working groups

·        Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets.

·        Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, volunteer leaders, other

organizations, and vendors

·        Ability to supervise, train and develop staff

·        Demonstrated ability to write, edit, and proofread effectively and clearly and persuasively for various audiences

·        High-level of interpersonal skills demonstrated in interactions with individuals at all levels, inside and outside

the organization.

·        Strong organizational and project management skills; adept at working under tight deadlines and managing

multiple projects simultaneously and ability to meet deadlines.

·        Excellent attention to detail.

·        Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily activities and schedules

·        Technical proficiency with association management software, database skills; experience in effective use of

web and social media tools.

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel

·        May be assigned other duties or special projects as necessary

·        Ability to travel as needed.

PTO accrues at the following rates:

HOLIDAY LEAVE

AASLD observes the holidays designated by the Federal Government. In addition, the AASLD office will close the day following Christmas and will not reopen until the first business day following New Year’s Day.

 

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

AASLD grants each employee 5-days of leave for bereavement purposes due to the death of someone in the immediate family. 

 

DENTAL INSURANCE

AASLD’s dental plan is the Guardian PPO-Max Rollover. AASLD pays 100% of the employee only premiums and up to $37.13 of the premium for Employee and Spouse, Employee and Children and Family.

 

HEALTH INSURANCE

AASLD provides health insurance for all regular full-time employees. Currently the Association offers health coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, a Preferred Provider Plan (PPO) and several Health Maintenance Organization Plans (HMO). AASLD pays up to $655 of the premium for employee only and up to $800 for employee and dependent. Premiums exceeding $655 and/or $800 are deducted pre-tax from employee paycheck through AASLD’s Section 125 Cafeteria.


SECTION 125 CAFETERIA PLAN

The Association sponsors a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan administered through the PayChex payroll service.

 

LIFE INSURANCE

AASLD pays 100% of eligible employee’s premium. 

 

LONG TERM DISABILITY

Premiums for single coverage under this plan are 100% employer sponsored. 

 

SHORT TERM DISABILITY

Premiums for single coverage under this plan are 100% employer sponsored. 

 

RETIREMENT/PENSION PLAN

All AASLD employees may contribute to their AASLD 403(b) retirement plan up Employees contributions are through salary reduction (salary is taxed after the contribution is deducted).

 

For full-time employees, AASLD contributes 10% of employee’s current salary to the retirement plan effective the month following the one year anniversary date. 

 

STAFF PARKING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION BENEFITS

The Canal Center shuttle bus service to the Braddock and King Street Metro stations is available to 1001 N. Fairfax Street building tenants at no charge. 

 

Complimentary parking or comparable reimbursement for public transportation.
